  1. how bout one of those laptops that are also a touch screen tablet.

It'll do MS Words, Flash and all the other things you described .

Husband's 2005 MacBook finally died.  He needs, for lack of a better term since I'm not fully awake yet, a new toy.

    Looking for input.

He understands the cloud, and how to use it, so that's one less thing I have to teach him, but would have no problem using an external hard drive, either. And while he used to be a "Apple or Die" type person, he borrowed my pc laptop, and now has no preference.  He basically needs something that will allow him to surf the web, and can handle the following:  Word, youtube, movies, music, flash, java, pdf's..

He travels for work, and one of the deciding factors will be weight.  He's interested in that Surface tablet that's advertised on tv, but says if he's gonna pay $1000 for the tablet and keyboard, he might as well spend the other $200 and get a brand new macbook..

  2. The Rays benefited a lot from many years of being really bad, they built up a lot of really high draft choices. They also hit the jackpot on a GM, and he has been creative in the way he has retained those really high picks.  I would like to know how he went about putting together his scouting organization, and minor league system together.  I don't think they outspent the Angels in that department because they don't have the money to invest very heavily in that regard.  Part of the Angels having a poor farm system is that we have a good enough record at the end of each year to keep us from drafting really premier players on the first round.

..and so why are we comparing the two again?

  3. Would all those calling for his head actually be happy or would they just move on down the line for people to blame for a bad game/season/inning whatever it is. It basically feels like (after reading comments on facebook and several threads on here) that people are just saying fire him to basically hear themselves talk. Was the first fire Scioscia comment made after the first ball Weaver threw in Cincinnati since he clearly used his powers to move the ball out of the strike zone?

The team sucks right now, that is obvious. With no pitching depth and the lack of a minor league support system, you can't win. Giving up 16 runs to the Twins in two games is all but an automatic loss. Bad moves, trading Ervin was a HUGE mistake, despite his rough stretches, he was semi consistent. Hamilton will get a bump from his old buddy Ron Washington when they hang out and then he will start mashing the ball again, in between strike outs of course.

Tough scheduling, injuries, and poor off season transactions don't mix well for the beginning of a season. I bet if the team went on a 20 game win streak and then lost one, everyone would be saying fire Scioscia after that one loss. We get it, you don't like him. This time next year, if he is fired, he will be in Yankee stadium and all the Yankee fans will be crying the same thing and everyone will be crying about whoever the new manager is, regardless of who it is.

    lol 20 game winning streak.
