I'm not often the one looking for silver linings in clouds, but this year is nowhere near as bad as last year's start. Last year's team was probably the worst I've seen through the first 20 games, this team is at least somewhat capable in some areas. Hell, if it weren't for Howie Kendrick, they might actually be decent.

Probably a sell out, lots of people hang out in the SRO areas even if they have seats.

Ah yes, it's one of my favourite things to see at a baseball game...when entirely sold blocks suddenly empty because every single person decides to stand somewhere else.

I'm not sure demoting Lowe to AAA after that pathetic, spineless effort will be adequate. Either way, get the piece of shit out of an Angels uniform...

I used to think Conger could develop into something pretty good, but he's still awful defensively and you can't make up for that with an .821 OPS in your third attempt at AAA. Even if he ever gets better defensively, I can't see him being much more than an average starting catcher. It's looking increasingly unlikely that defensive improvement ever comes too.

Even the mediocre FA options left are beginning to sound more appealing, honestly.

 

I would take K-Rod on a cheap deal at this point.

Having a bullpen which, even at full strength, would include Williams and Carpenter is pretty worrying for me when you factor in how much Downs and Frieri sucked late last year, the fact Madson is coming back from a really long layoff and my reluctance to put too much stock in Jepsen given what he was for so long. Another cheap veteran option at the back of the 'pen looks pretty good right now.

It's incredible that someone who put up a 1.0 dWAR in just 501.2 OF innings last year is so hated by so many. Even if he doesn't improve at all offensively, he still warrants a starting spot on this team more than likely. Having said that, I'd be stunned if he hits less than .250 and think he's got a really got shot of being above .270. I'll predict .275/.335/.420 (so pretty close to his 2011 season), which would be enough for a 5ish WAR season and give us one of the best all-round outfields of all time.
