And again, great play happens on the ice and the announcers are busy talking about Stonehands.
Last game you'll have to hear about him.

As good as Dostal has looked recently, it's going be hard for Verbeek to not be pressured into moving Gibson.

Oh, I was mistaken.
Quack of Dawn: Ducks Morning Report - 4/16
Not sure why Lagesson is getting as much rope as he has been. Vaakanainen is a much better player.
The 4th line could be renamed the 'who's not going to be here next year?' line. My guess is obviously Silfverberg, Grouix, Meyers. I think Johnston is here for the duration of his contract. We need him until we can replace him with someone more talented (Jones at some point ?). Leason seems to have a spot until he stops progressing.
With Vak, the only thing I can think is maybe he's a little banged up. Don't see why else he wouldn't be playing.

Weird lines in practice.
Leo/cutter/killtheducks
Z/vatrano/stoned
Terry/stonehands didn't catch the third player
Veterans!
The last harrah.
What's wrong with McTavish ?
The third guy is probably Lundestrom.
-
You're buddy Strome is gumming up the Zegras line again.
-
Verbeek makes the occasional roster mistake. But, keeping Zellweger and moving Drysdale was a big plus move.
Slowly but surely, he is weeding through what he inherited and improving the team in most cases.
Barring another injury plagued season next year, we should be competitive and fun to watch.
Already looking forward to it.

Oh well, Dostal would have probably won that game. That's okay though. We are seeing some of what can be coming in the next couple years.
-
Gibson just gave up too many goals.
-
Ducks effort has definitely picked up.
-
I especially like the Z assist. That was a set-up play. The goalie has no choice but to follow Z to the other post. Easy goal for Vatrano. Well, at least a good chance.
Coming up with plays like that is what we need from our coaching staff.
-
Gibson's value has definitely fallen the back half of this season. I don't know if we're going to be able to unload him in the next year like I thought they would.

Gibswim sucking like usual. He'll probably go on the IR again with a phantom injury.
"Gibson showing a little rust"
Umm... how about saying he looks terrible, Heyward.

Then you look at the big market teams that have moved up, Rangers, Blackhawks. NHL hates us.
I think it's fair to say the lottery has favored the favored teams.

/sigh. NHL hates us.
I don't know that I would call it bad luck as much as not good luck. The drafts purpose is to remove some of the advantage of finishing near the bottom of the standings. It has done that for us. Moving down one spot is the most probable outcome in each draft. Moving down two spots is usually close to staying where you were (I think). So, it seems to me, the Duck have faired pretty average.

It's worth a watch when you get home. It's one of those games, where you will say where the F has this team been all season.
Yeah, I'll be back in a day or two. I think I'll do that. Might as well get my last bit of use out of Bally.
Have you read anything on what the Ducks plans are going forward with media ?
-
On the I40. So, I'm only getting the radio. 'Sounds' like a good game, though.
-
Seems like tonight's a game that neither team has a lot at stake. It could make it a good game though.

Stoned. Perfect pass by Z in the slot wide open. Mctavish would have potted the high bar. Stoned did his stonehands impression
Five more games and he can take his millions to Sweden and enjoy some lower level hockey.

CBJ wins. CHI beats Dallas.
We are one point away from guaranteed 3 or better in the lottery. With falling below Chicago a possibility.
A fourth or better pick in the draft would net us a high quality player in this draft.

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if Z asks for a trade. It's becoming bullshit that he get blamed for a piss poor coaching decision of having Stoned be a non factor on that line. Ducks need a total coaching change for next season.
I know there were injuries, but this is a better team than we saw this year. I can't see how the entire coaching staff returns next year. Someone has to be upgraded.
I agree with you. It feels like they're running him out of town. I feel like, if we get a forward in this year's draft, he will not be here past next year. I hope they know what they're doing. That's a lot talent to move out.

What a first impression by Nesterenko. Man, he just took that puck away.
He seems to want to be a NHL'er enough that he's going to make it

We sign Colangelo. He plays 1 game for the Gulls, and has a goal and an assist. And he's a right shot.
Pitre is also a right shot.
If only Sidorov was a left shot. But he is a pure shooter, so he has that going for him.
It's still early. Drafts look good until they hit the AHL. Then things start to take shape. We'll have a good idea if last year's draft is as good as it looks now next year at this time..
But, so far it looks good.
-
Checkout the goals/assists for Dionicio (add up both junior teams this year). Then check to see that he's a defender, not a forward.
Hopefully, like Verbeek commented, if you get enough picks, someone will come up big.
-
So, I see where we signed Colangelo, Pitre and Sidorov.
I know it's juniors, but Sidorov had 50 goals this season. And unlike King, he had 40 the year before in 13 less games. So, doesn't look like a fluke season.
Now, we need to sign Cary Terrance.
Changes in SD next year and maybe some future offense for the Ducks.

The guy probably has one more year for sure. After that, it will be a matter of when we can offload him.
