Wow has Cowart really dropped off that much? I still have high hopes for him

The Diamondbacks have talked about putting Yasmany Tomas at 3B instead of the outfield which would make Jake Lamb available in trade. Additionally Brandon Drury is in the wings as well making Lamb expendable.
Lamb had a .406 OBP across his three seasons in the Minors. Additionally he had a .553 SLG and .321 BA across that time.
He'd be a great 2-spot hitter behind Calhoun and in front of Trout.
Freese is projected for 2.1 WAR while Lamb is projected for 1.6 across 420 PA's. Assuming a platoon where Green or Rutledge picks up the additional 200 AB's, that would be equivalent to what Freese would give. Steamer/600 actually has Lamb at 2.1 WAR.
I'm really high on the kid and would like to see us pick him up and have a real 3B for the first time in a long time. He's controllable through the 2020 season.
The D'Backs have been looking for prospects but also have been looking for pitchers on short term contracts (so they can flip them at the trade deadline for other pieces they need) so Wilson would be a possibility especially as a ground ball pitcher in that park. We could also trade Freese who also could be flipped at the trade deadline for pieces they want. Throw in prospects!
I had no idea Tomas could play 3rd. I like your thinking though with regards to acquiring a young 3b with upside like Lamb. How about Cecchini from the Red Sox? They have a few guys who could play 3rd ahead of him like Sandoval, Middlebrooks even Hanley/Boagerts are capable of playing there

I wish there was more of a battle at 3b

No need to spend the $$ right away unless we are getting a heck of a deal. Having that breathing room $$ wise allows us to have more flexibility during the season

Hopefully Dipoto is at least gauging interest for Wilson
-
I'd be fine if Dipoto decides not to make any more trades/big free agent signings if we can get Moncada. Our farm system is thin on position players
-
I like the team that we have right now. There's a good balance of youth and veterans in the roster. One thing I still would like to see happen is to add some speed with ability to get on base so Calhoun-Trout-Pujols can be 2-3-4

It won't happen but he would look good leading off in our lineup
-
I'd like to see how Yarbrough does

Rule 5 draft about to start. Anyone else hoping we take a chance on Deshields?
-
Sounds like the Reds didn't get much for Latos

I doubt Betts is a realistic option, although he would fit in perfectly. The Red Sox have a crowded outfield with Ramirez, Cespedes, Victorino, Castillo, Bradley in the outfield and of course Pedroia at 2nd. I still would like to have a speedy lead off hitter
-
Next up....
C.J. Wilson and Grant Green for Mookie Betts, who then becomes our starting 2B and leadoff hitter.
Even with the trade for Wade Miley, the Red Sox have some SP holes to fill. Betts has a crowded OF and INF to crack in Boston.
Sure would be nice

This looks like a better deal than the one from a year ago. Howie will be missed. Wilson on the move next?

There is no way the Marlins would even entertain trading Yelich for Cron. Yelich is a much, much better talent. Power and speed combo...lot of comps to Shawn Green. Cron is a DH-only bat who doesn't draw walks
Oh yeah Yelich is definitely much more talented. I was just thinking it would be nice to have some speed at the top of the lineup
-
Heaney for Gordon
Marisnick and Colin Moran for Cosart
Wow, just wow. Jerry needs to give Miami a call and see if he can get Yelich for Cron.
Yelich for Cron would be nice. Have Yelich leadoff with Calhoun-Trout-Pujols. Cron would give the Marlins some power to help out Stanton

Great pitching performance by Richards..Trout still struggling but at least he hit one out of the park today and hopefully he'll get hot again...hope we can go past .500! Stewart needs to be DFA now...absolutely no production whatsoever

How many runs will the Angels score in the series: 15
1st Tiebreaker - How many runs will the Angels allow in the series: 11
2nd Tiebreaker - How many runs will Mike Trout score in the series: 4
3rd Tiebreaker - How any hits will Mike Trout have in the series: 5

there HAS to be a change..this guy shouldn't be #3 on the rotation....it's time to move Richards up to #3 and let Shoemaker be the #5 with Santiago working as a long reliever
-
is it bad if I hope Santiago is hurt and goes on the DL? definitely the weak link in an otherwise solid rotation
CJ Wilson available for trade...

Not sure the Dbacks would be interested in Wilson now that they have plenty of depth in their rotation
