Does anyone see any real potential in this team in terms of wins and division standing?

I really don't, I think they will be lucky to play .500 ball this year. I'm picking something like 80-82, definitely a 4th place team. It will be real interesting to see what happens mid season when they are 12-15 GB from Oakland (whom I think will win 100 games, and the WS)....will the skip get fired? Dipoto maybe? I seriously doubt the latter, but he is already getting heat in the press. Spring Training means nada, I know that, but 10-20? At some point, a good team starts to build some swagger, and they got none of that.

It was a pretty sh!tty situation after Downs-y dotted Choo, and (some dude) bunted him over. Walk Votto, then leave Downs in to pitch to Phillips, who hit a bomb earlier, to try and get a DP? That seemed unlikely, given Downs' cutty-thumby stuff now. Maybe the Skip was thinking Votto pop-up-ground ball out, then get a righty to face Phillips? Was there even a guy warming up? I don't know, I think we were screwed either way there.

I don't buy it. Scioscia needs to realize that Downs isn't a lefty specialist. 

 

Oh and that Votto is not only their best hitter, but one of the best in the game.

I believe the offense will get it done and then some through the season. If the bullpen can perform at a high level the Halos should roll through this season with no issue. I just hope Downs isn't relied on during critical times.

Amidst the horsebleep offense from the 1-5 guys these 1st 2 games, and before Downs just shat the bed, the BP had a 1-hitter through 9 IP so far, just like Yu Darvish! Jepsen and Richards look unhittable right now....
