Watched the first episode of The Strain on FX. This series follows a 3 book series written by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan.  I am almost done with the second book now so I had high expectations for the show because the books are great.  The first episode was good but they already started making changes from the book so I'm curious to see how it plays out.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes-  Really good!  Best one so far I think though I haven't seen all of the older ones.  Don't see it in 3D though.  Really didn't add to the quality of the movie and cost me 6 bucks more a ticket.

Nice I like this deal a lot and I'm not even a Heatley fan.  One year @ 1mil is perfect.  He has to produce to earn a contract next year and if he looks like '12-'13 Heatley than it doesn't hurt to release him.  Solid move

Also, rumors hitting Twitter that the Ducks are interested in Dany Heatley.

he has looked bad the last few seasons but if the deal is cheap 1-2mil I think he is worth the risk.  The twins can make any LW look good

Watched the first two episodes. I'm intrigued, and I think it could be good. Some acting/parts are a little corny, but I can see that they could go places with the storyline.

 

For FX, it was pretty graphic in parts. Like the scene between Jamal and his son's fiance. Won't say more, but for cable, that was pretty nuts.

I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes of Tyrant.  It has the feel of an HBO/Showtime series which I like but definitely too graphic for children.  Watched the first 2 episodes of The Last Ship...  I thought the plot for the show sounded really good but the acting and dialogue is almost unwatchable.  Won't be watching the 3rd episode.

I'm a pretty big fan of Bob Murray. I am very pleased with his trades and what he does with the draft. That being said, the Ducks always seems underwhelming for the free agent period. Today is just another example. I don't like the contract Stoner got today, plus he is a redundant and limited player (big and strong but no real offensive game, kinda just like Allen and Fistric).

 

Heck, when was the last time the Ducks got a good player during the free agent process? Koivu in 2009?

I feel the same way.  I would have preferred Murray did nothing today instead of the deals he did make.

WTF?  Allen was our best D man last season.  Stoner is a big match up D man.  Not a scoring D man.  This is a good move.  Ducks still have a lot of cap space to work with too.

I disagree.  Allen might have been our best Dman in the playoffs but he was out matched most of the season.  Stoner was Minn bottom pairing defensemen...  I don't see the upside.  I just went to the Wilds message board and they are laughing at us.

Ew I don't like this at all.  He is a big body but looks like Allen 2.0.  Hopefully Allen is being shipped out now.  Would have much rather signed Ehrhoff for 1 year 4.5 mil

I would try and put a package together for Yandle. Perreault/Rakell + Leblanc + 24th pick + Fistric/Sbisa/Vats/Allen?

So they would get 2 centers, a first round pick and a dmen to help replace Yandle... wishful thinking?  In this scenario we would have to trade for a 2C for sure  though

Losing Etem will sting.  Being a local kid I bet he would sign a long term deal for a low cap hit just to stay close to home. But depending on which Dman they want I would still do the deal.  I would counter with our late first round pick and Toronto's 2nd instead of our #10.  it Probably wont be enough but if the market for Kesler isn't as rabid as Van thought then it might be enough. 

Apple isn't superior anymore when it comes to smartphones but already owning an ipad and apple tv I wont make the switch to droid because all 3 of those devices work flawlessly together.  The new Samsung and HTC phones look amazing but it wouldn't work well with my other devices...

We need to trade 1 or 2 of our spare dmen and trade for one top Dman.  I would rather they signed a 2C and use their trade chips to shore up the blueline.  I would look at what kind of interest Anderson brings in a trade.  His stock is high right now and Gibson and him are almost at the same point of development.  They both are going to want to be #1 and I would feel just as good next season with Gibson in net and sign a veteran backup (Giguere?).  Hopefully we hold onto our #10 pick unless it is used to net us a shutdown defender.

I just started watching Hannibal.  Really good!  Kind of reminds me of a mix of True Detective and Dexter.  I'm only a few episodes in but it has hooked me.

I wonder since there will be little travel in the series if its a freeway series if the NHL would consider Fri/Sat for games 1 and 2 in Anaheim.  That would be an epic weekend start to the series!

I would love this!  I have tickets to game 2 and back to back games would probably favor us a lot with our opponent playing a game 7 two days before

I was really surprised to see the Sharks act like classless sore losers to end the game. It's their first loss of the playoffs and they have shown that the Kings already in their heads because of that. So you add that along with the fact that they are already the biggest choke artists of all time... I think the Kings have a shot at bringing this series to 7 games.

 

I have never been more confident being down 3-1 in a series after seeing how the 3rd period unfolded for the Sharks.

 

It just sucks that the Kings spotted the Sharks the first two games because they forgot the playoffs started. It might be a case of "too little, too late" but either way, I hope the Kings battle to the very end. The scary thing is that the Kings still haven't played "Kings hockey" yet. Quick didn't try to draw interference penalties tonight like he did in the first three games. That's what really threw him off his game. So that's a good sign. Go Kings Go!

Agreed, Coyotes would be ideal but the Wild have been really clicking lately and have more talent than Dallas.  I usually hate when we play Dal but the Stars are the safer team I think.  Still hoping the Coyotes get in though

Hiller can't blame anyone for starting Gibson over him.  He has been shakey lately and we have more than capable back-up options.  I feel bad for the guy though.
