Shoe got screwed on Freese's brain fart. Can he not field a ground ball hit right at him? Prevented Shoe from going out to start the 6th.

Is Arte more nervous now that Lester is going to the A's and telling DiPoto to get Price? Five hours until the deadline. Does Skaggs, Shoemaker, Cron and Green get the deal done? I do not think we have the prospects to pull this off without touching the 25 man roster. Not something that I would do, but just throwing it out for some thoughts?

Let's not forget that Shoemaker had to be stretched out in AAA. He started the season in the BP and did not pitch more than 2.1 innings at one time while in relief before being optioned to AAA. His starts in AAA were the following innings pitched: 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.2, and 7.0. Maybe he had to work himself back into starting form. Does it really matter what he did in AAA this year considering what he is doing at the major league level? I tend to think not since the goal of every MLB team is to have players step up and help them win games. Maybe he was "working on some things" when he got sent down just like every other pitcher does. The proof is in the results since being recalled. I would think that the Angels have to get the starting pitcher they really want before Shoemaker is included in any deal. He may be more valuable to some other teams than we think. Time will tell.

Where do you guys get Shoemaker has a career 4.50 ERA from pitching in one game? To set the record straight, Shoemaker

had a 0.00 ERA in his start against Seattle and in three appearances in 2014, he has a 4.05 ERA. Career is 2.31 ERA not 4.50.

We all know Shoemaker is not a flame throwing ace but I think he is still the best option for long relief and spot

starting. I think he needs more than 11.2 innings to prove that he has that potential. Not a very large sample size but it is not like he got blown out in those innings. I think we would all take a 4.00-4.50 ERA from that position and be

content with it.

Shoemaker has a 4.5 era on the major league level.  I say give him a shot.

Per the Angels stats page for Shoemaker, he has a 2.31 ERA at the MLB level and a 4.52 career ERA in the minors.

Do you people even know how Shoemaker is doing in AAA right now?

Ok! it's the PCL, but that still not looks very good, I say keep Hector in the rotation and let him work it out, I watch every game he pitched, he actully didn't pitch that badly, just some bad luck with low run support and error, I think he'll be fine.

Last night v. Las Vegas (best team in PCL) Shoemaker went 7 innings, 2 ER, scattered 8 hits (7 singles & 1 double), 11Ks and 1 BB. I think he is getting his feel for starting again. He only had one start in spring training in a minor league game. It has taken him a few games to get back into his starting routine along with building up his pitch count. Threw 100 pitches each of the last two starts. I would not be concerned with his first three starts when he was on a set pitch count and getting stretched back out.

When does Shoemaker get recalled? I know it is a very small sample size but he does own a 2.31 ERA in 11.2 innings with 10Ks. He is definitely not a flamethrower, but changes speeds well with movement on all his pitches. It is time for some of these young guys to get their opportunity. I hope it is sooner than later.

Does anyone see Shoemaker getting a legitimate shot at becoming the 5th starter or the long reliever? Sickels states that "he would be in the mix as a fifth starter for many teams." I hope he gets a few starts under his belt to see if he can be a consistent starter on which the Angels can depend.

Shoemaker is still a nice option to have either as a spot starter or in long relief. The guy has proven he can handle a

heavy workload as indicated by his innings pitched in 2011 (177.1), 2012 (210.1) and 2013 (202). Those innings are combined for winter ball in 2012 and playoffs and one start with the Angels in 2013. If he has a great spring, I think he deserves consideration for a roster spot until proven otherwise. Depth is a great problem to have.

Bees just finish off Las Vegas, 4-3.  All four games decided by 1 run.  Pretty good pitching and some timely hitting.  Off to Omaha on Tuesday to start the PCL championship.  Good Luck to the Bees!

Shoemaker has pitched very well in his last 4 starts. Looks like he is very durable as he is not faltering near the end of the season but actually having some of his strongest starts of the year. 7 innings per game, 1.93 ERA, 26ks and only 3 BBs. I think he would adapt well to long relief.

Navarro, Shoemaker, Long and Berg are all good guys that deserve a shot somewhere.  Navarro is a minor league free agent after this season (will sign elsewhere), Shoemaker after next season (likewise) and Long and Berg after 2015.  It appears if you were a very low draft pick, Navarro and Long, or NDFAs, Shoemaker and Berg, this organization has no place for you regardless how you perform.  No money invested in any of these guys.  I wish they all could get traded to get that opportunity.

I would like to see Shoemaker also. He has been pitching much better than Buckner lately.  Leads all of Milb in innings pitched.  K's 7.7/9 and BB 1.48/9.  K/BB is 5.29.  Walks are few and far between which is something the Angels bullpen knows nothing about. The guy averages 6.2 innings a start.  Would like to see him in a one inning stint with the Angels.  What does DiPoto have to lose? Nothing at this point.

Give Shoemaker a shot. Find out if he can contribute as #5 starter or long relief.  See how his fly ball tendencies play in Anaheim.  We all know that being a fly ball pitcher in SLC is brutal.  Average fly ball is a cheap HR in that park.  Leading all of Milb in innings pitched 145.1, leading AAA in K's 122 and lowest BB/9 in PCL at 1.55.  K/BB ratio is 4.88.  Probably will not happen since he is not a DiPoto reclamation project.

Free Berg and Shoemaker.  This organization will never give either of them a chance.  Just as they have never given Navarro a legitimate chance.  One of the best defensive 1B that the Angels will ever see. Too bad he will be a Minor League free agent after the season.  Some team will grab him in a hurry.  As previously stated, no guys in this org will get an opportunity if they are not a former D'back or Rockie.  Wow!  What a way to build your team.
