  1. How was the bootleggers triple ipa?

I didn't have it tonight, will try it sometime this coming wk if there is any still left at the tasting room.  I had 2011 Dogfish Head 120 and the Firestone Walker beer made for the event, it was a blend including PNC (which I had the other day, SO GOOD), Double DBA, and Parabola.  They were yummy.

  2. Beer weekend San Diego trip today and tomorrow! Going to pick up my Barrel Aged Speedway Stout today at Alesmith before the races. Tomorrow I think we'll do Alpine and Societe early tomorrow and then maybe Port/Lost Abbey and Churchill's.

    Any other Sunday suggestions?

     White Labs and Ballast Point.

  3. I find this curious. Quite frankly I think it is one of the most overrated IPA's in the world. At 18% the booziness is overpowering and you get zero hops as a result. I am not saying it is terrible but it isn't that great in my opinion. I think many people like it because it is hard to find and that they are supposed to like it. I have had it on tap and in a bottle. The bottle is much better as out of the tap is too cold for the brew. Only reason I started with this is because the first beer is 11 bucks with a glass no matter what you get so may as well go with the most expensive. Beer of the night was Knee Deep Hoparillo.

I completely agree it is overrated.  Just like Pliny the Younger.  But, I'm not one of the ppl who likes it bc I'm "supposed" to like it.  I actually had it the first time having no clue what it was, back when I was first started to drink craft beer.  I've had it more than once, and liked it each time.  Everyone has different tastes.  And our tastes can even change over time...

Wish I could've made it out to Naja's, always a fun time with some of my favorite friends that are regulars.

  4. Alpine first and then over to the Stone Anniversary is the way to go. That is what we smart people do.

Hahaha then I guess I'm not smart, that's too much driving for me in one day.  Unless I stay at my mom's house the night before.

  5. Cafe racer 15 is pretty good but not an amazing double. I had it fresh at the brewery back in Feb., yet to have it out of a bottle.

Speaking of Tustin Brewery, I am over at Smog City here in Torrance which started out of Tustin Brewing Co.

Love the new Smog City tasting room!  Oh, and their beers are good too.

  6. I work in Saudi and my wife and daughter live in Bahrain. I cross the causeway bridge 2 or 3 times a week. The squadron for whom I run the simulator is on break this week so I think I'll just sit in Bahrain and listen to the Shia vs Sunni battles instead of getting caught in the AQ stuff.

Wow, I lived in Saudi as a kid and also went to boarding school in Bahrain, I wouldn't want to live over there now.  Hope your family stays safe!

  7. Najas in Redondo will launch their annual IPA week starting next Thursday. They always come through with some special kegs for this event.

For tonight around LA, Smog City is going to have a cask of Dr Hoo-Mango Hoptonic IPA. They will also have Amarilla Gorilla and Hoptonic on tap.

LOVE Najas, can't wait to go for their IPA wk next week!  They always have good beers on tap and fun specials too.
