  1. Wade opted out of two years and $40 million to keep Miami together.  Now, who will pay that broken down guy anything near that amount?  Oops!

Too bad Dan Gilbert comes out of this smelling like a rose.  He certainly does not deserver the good fortune of winning the lottery every year and then getting LBJ back after slamming him childishly.

  2. I'm still on such a high from last season.  Could it be that the team peaked and that it won't ever be as good as this?  2 Cups in 3 years will be tough to top.

It's kind of is strange to think that being a Kings fan may never be better than right now.  The epic comeback against The Sharks, beating up on The Quackers who didn't even show up for

game 7 on THEIR OWN HOME ICE?  Heck, the season was already a rousing success just based on the first two rounds.  The rest was gravy -- served, of course from The Stanley Cup.

Let's hope for more glory, certainly, but I couldn't feel better than I do right now. GKG.

  3. I always gave AJP the boo bird treatment when he played in Anaheim but that was all in fun.

overall -- I still think the while AJP deal in that Angels playoff game was a heads up play on his part and a very dumb move by our catcher (Paul?) behind the plate.

our catcher played ump -- something players are told never to do -- even if the homeplate ump (another one of our favorites) signaled out --

oh well......that chapter is now deifinitely over.

don't see AJP signing elsewhere -- could be wrong but doubt it.

I don't like A.J., but in reality he merely preyed upon a weak umpire, one who should not ever work a post season game again in any capacity.  In fact, Eddings is in a group of terribly performing umpires that need to be removed ( or sent to the minor leagues like struggling players.  Yeah, the union, I know.):  Eddings, Kerwin Danley, Joe West, CB Bucknor, Angel Hernandez just to name a few.

Speaking of not ever being involved in a postseason game, why on God's green Earth was Josh Paul even in that game?  He was our third catcher and really not that good at anything.  Ultimately, that is on Mike Scioscia.  For being such an "expert" on catchers, he sure has made some very questioinable deciscions with them over the years.

  4. Lombardi is trying to keep the team together (sans Mitchell), so we'll get to see a true defense of the Cup.  I hate losing Vey too, but I have full faith in King's management (the exact opposite view that I have of DiPoto).

The Kings are the best run team in town!

  5. What a mess.

I'm all for Lucho or Cowart.  Freese is garbage, just like most of us thought when the trade was announced.  It blows my mind that Phat Mike had him bat in the clean up spot so many times.

    Fun fact:

This team had three opportunities to sign Adrian Beltre as a free agent.  Texas didn't even really have a need at 3B, but was smart enough to make room for the future Hall of Famer.

  6. whatever. at this point, if what they do works, fine. if it doesn't, they're going to get fired...someday.

i don't agree with half of what scioscia does.

It's amazing.  Over the last ten years, I've gone from being a Scioscia super fan, to apologist, to indifferent, to hater.  I want him gone.

  7. To answer your question, not many managers would, if any.  No, it's not too "out there" to call up Navarro (I really hope he has figured out hitting - finally).  I would like to know the reasons that the coaching staff and the front office continue to pursue this strategy, but that's not something they are willing to discuss or detail to the fans or press.  So it is what it is, until either the front office or coaching staff is changed, and that is the owner's call.  I'm willing to move on with it because the GM and manager have to have the lattitude to pursue their strategy without every decision being continually grilled.  I believe you put them in place and let them either succeed or fail, then you evaluate and make changes at an appropriate time if required.

And the changes I want to see are a new GM and field manager.  If I have to watch another failed season to see this come to fruition, then so be it.  In the meantime, I'll enjoy watching Trout, Calhoun, Cron (on those rare occassions he plays), and Skaggs.
