  1. I think the Angels lose character if they drop of anaheim

just imagine the washington nations of the district of columbia

or the new york yankees of the bronx

or the new york mets of queens

the angels were really onto something with the name change a decade ago

Not sure I understand your point.

Washington is a city within the District of Columbia; the Bronx and Queens are boroughs within New York City; Anaheim has absolutely nothing to do with Los Angeles.

  2. Indeed the team is playing exceptional ball over the past few weeks. If they can get the defense squared up, they'll be in prime shape for a second half run.

Would love to see them sweep the Cubs and perhaps give Albert the weekend off when they play the Mariners. A full week of rest to relieve that plannar ailment would be ideal.

  3. That was one of the best swings I've seen from him all year. He looked really locked in and his swing was effortlessly smooth. Hopeful that his pitch recognition is back on track. Gotta hand it to him for staying positive and working through what must feel like a demoralizing 10 to 12 months of poor performance.

  4. The team is actually looking solid in several areas lately. Still not up to the mark they perhaps should be, but when they start winning tight games, that's a sign that things are turning around. For example, Aybar just failed to get the bunt down, went 0-2, but drew a walk then pressured the defense which directly resulted a go ahead run. It's those subtle chains of events that have been missing all year.

I with Chuck. Pumped about the possibility of a strong second half.

  5. We should never honor a member of another team....I don't care if he has a million saves and has not allowed a run ever....he is a Yankee and they are and always will be the enemy.

First off, the Yankee players are not the enemy. They are competitors.

Second, honoring the career of a worthy competitor, and the game's best closer, is a sign of respect.

  6. Key moment of the game right there. That's what the team has been missing all year. Those timely hits with RISP.

Aybar had a fantastic 12-pitch at bat earlier to work a hit. Even with all the struggles this year there are great little moments to savor!

  7. MLB needs to do what ever it can to clean up the game. But this will get messy. As others mentioned, without a positive test I don't see how MLB can suspend these players. I imagine it comes down to how the agreement with the players association is worded.

I also think they should drop the 50 game suspension for the first offense. Make in 100, then 150, then gone. In all cases, immediate forfeiture of any and all awards accumulated during the season in which the cheating occurred.

  8. Indeed, there needs to be a shift. But I don't believe it needs to be overly drastic.

    My dare to:

Pujols to the DL (15 day minimum, perhaps 4 weeks and reevaluate). Trumbo to 1st. Call up Calhoun.

Hamilton to the 3 hole. Yeah, crazy, but it's time for crazy.

Callaspo back to the 15-day. He's clearly not 100%. Bring up Jimenez.

Keep the pitching staff as is unless there is a quality arm to be had at the deadline.

And for crying out load, will someone on the roster (Manager and coaches not included) please stand up a lead within the club house!

Leave the chairs alone. They're the only thing performing as expected.

  9. Have to share this comment to the article by delusional Rangers fan, Tony_Ranger:

    My line-up

    2) Ian Kinsler 2b
    3) Lance Berkamn DH
    4) Adrian Beltre 3b
    5) Mike Trout CF
    6) Nelson Cruz RF
    7) Chris Davis 1B
    8) Davis Murphy LF
    9) Soto C
    Pitchers , Darvish, Holland, Harrison,
    Closer Joe Nathan

  10. I love how 90% of these types of fans hardly add anything else to the site besides the occasional high-horse comment.

Actually, I ride a miniature pygmy horse. I agree with Oracle that there are reflections of the 1980 season. I attended nearly every game that season and I've seen this team at it's worst and best over the years. But I refuse to callously dismiss the efforts of those I support. If not kicking the team to the dirt makes me some effervescent-superfan-tard, so be it.

That said, my apologies to BaseballMom for my disrespectful cheap shot.

  11.

And early in 1980, they got swept 4 games in Oakland by an A'ths team that lost over 100 games in 1979.

In other words, in early 1980 they got swept 4 games in Oakland by an improved A's team that posted a record of 83-79 in for the season. But I agree, it's looking like 1980 all over again.
