  1. Garza is probably league average this point and has serious injury concerns.  And he's going to be on the wrong side of 30.

Like I said. I'm not looking for a guy to replace Weav as the ace.  I'd rather pay Garza, stay under the luxury tax, and have the money for when we need it with Trout.

  2. Who do we go after? With Tanaka most likely being posted, it makes Garza a little easier to get, but on the other hand, is the high risk high reward on Tanaka worth it?  I would say that we be content with Garza and go after him.  We aren't looking for an ace, we're looking for a #3 guy, which is exactly what Garza is. Thoughts?

  3. The problem is, Tanaka could go en route of the Matsuzaka effect.  For the amount of money, especially CBT money, I don't know if the Angels can take that risk.

And if they are willing to take that risk, then I question why we've been pinching so many pennies this offseason.

Tanaka is in a whole other league than Matsuzaka IMO. I see Tanaka as a can't miss guy who may be even better than Darvish. Time will tell though.

  4. If we had to give up one this week at the Winter Meetings who would it be?  Who is more valuable?

    A trade option for each:

Mark Trumbo to Arizona for Archie Bradley

Howie Kendrick to Detroit for Rick Porcello

What's the best option? Obviously something needs to happen this week.

  5. What is truly the difference between 78 and 90 wins? I am certain we had 12 loses by 1 run last season.  The questions comes down to, how can we turn these 1 run loses into wins?  The simple answer is better pitching, starting and bullpen.  Our offense won us enough games last year to keep from turning into the Astros.  We need two durable Starters.

  6. I am sure everyone realizes this, but the Angels are truly 2 quality starting pitchers away from possibly living up to the hype of the past two off seasons.  All it takes is TWO and we have ourselves a quality ball club.  Jerry and Arte need to get it done, plain and simple.

  7. With what we have right now, I am not sure what the lineup would look like.  I want Calhoun in RF, but we need a lead off hitter in Shuck in the lineup.  Here is what I could see a lineup being with what we have right now.

    1. Shuck LF

    2. Kendrick 2B

    3. Trout CF

    4. Trumbo DH

    5. Pujols 1B

    6. Hamilton RF

    7. Freese 3B

    8. Conger/Iannetta C

    9. Aybar SS

    OR

    1. Aybar SS

    2. Kendrick 2B

    3. Trout CF

    4. Trumbo DH

    5. Pujols 1B

    6. Hamilton LF

    7. Freese 3B

    8. Conger/Iannetta C

    9. Calhoun RF

Kind of lost, so any thoughts?
