Again, I dont believe this story.
Martinez is one of the crown jewels of the Cardinals organization and I dont see them giving him away for Ramirez. Ramirez is average, at best now.
Mozeliak would have been crucified had this gone through.
-
Martinez AND Adams for Aybar. You gotta be kidding me, right? You'de be lucky to get one or other (w/ some tasty PTNBL) certainly not both.
-
I've heard from sources in the media here in St. Louis that this may not be true.
I cant imagin the Sox would turn down a Martinez for Ramirez offer. Martinez is one of the top ranked prospects in all of baseball and has top of the rotation potential. I dont see the Cardinals willing to part with him for Ramirez.
I think this will be debunked in a day or two.

how do you rebuild with two overpriced veterans who are untradable?
It isnt a rebuild situation. It's find good, young talent that can be built around and try to limit the damage caused by two aging over-priced veterans.

Jsn seems to have it right. If Trout doesnt sign an extension that covers his arb egible years and then some, I'd bet he's likely gone when he can test free agency.
Winning will have a lot to do with it and I have to wonder if he looks around at the pitching staff, Pujols and Hamilton and wonder can this team really compete in the next 4-5 years.

troll Yankee games looking for attractive women.

has grinding it out become the new turn the page?

There is no doubt that AP is fueled by a strong desire to win and succeed. If you dont believe that, then you really dont know the player very well.
He has the drive, desire and passion, his issue is he no longer has the premium skills he used to have that made him so incredible.
-
That was a stinker. What a terrible way to end the game, but given this season not entirely unexpected.
-
I dont see how the Yankees make the play-offs given the current state of the club. Getting Soriano makes them marginally better, but what would really make them better would be getting all of their injured players back.
Sometimes it is ok to say "Better luck next year". Yankees seem incapable of doing so.

He still didnt come out and admit to using PEDs
There are no details about which substances he used. I hope the details come out and there is public disclosure on what he was using.
Braun is classless. Laurenzi was the guy who got railroaded about chain of custody with the sample eventhough the place was closed. Braun screwed this guy over, yet no apology from Braun for ruining this guys life, livelihood and good name.
I have a feeling A-Rod will get hit even harder. If I remember correctly, he tried to buy off some Biogenesis people so he could destroy incriminating documents. I have a feeling MLB is going to come down hard on A-Rod and rightly so.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Epstein and Co. really know what they're doing right now.
I think the Cubs are going to be real contenders in a few years. If they can find a big superstar through free agency or via trade, they could be better even sooner.
Cubs. Contenders. Winning.
Those are two adjectives that are not often associated with the Cubs.
Personally, I think Epstein is vastly overrated, but we shall see.

Why would the Angels need a playoff push rental? Does anyone really believe the playoffs are even possible?
Secondly, in order to get said rental, prospects would need to be involved and given the Angels derth of those, it would make such a move challenging. Let's not forget that if there is one thing this organization needs to do it is to re-stock the minors with talent.
If anything, the team may want to look at who they could move at the deadline for good prospects.
-
I read this article earlier and wasnt surprised to find out who was #1.
$212M left and the author postulates it would require eating $150M or so of that to move him. I am certain that no matter how finacially strong the Angels are, there is no way any team can eat that amount of money on a contract.
Nothing short of a complete and total disaster for the Angels.

Dipoto really hasn't been a bad GM. Reagins was a terrible GM and Arte forced the Albert Pujols & Nightmare Child signings on Dipoto.
Sorry, but one of the main responsibilities of a good GM is to manage your boss. Dipoto has been very poor at that.
Plus, he did sign some poor starting pitchers and relievers. Thats on him.

to be a fan of the Halos
How it used to be so much fun
But then Dipoto signed Blanton
So now he just gives up runs
When Albert left St. Louis
Angels had grand visions of penants and wins
little did we know, he'd just fool us
Are we just paying for his sins?
Along came an ex addict we thought would bring power
Little did the team know
It was well past the hour
Such is life in the Big Show

I wonder how much rope Sosh will give Weaver this inning?
surprised he let him pitch to Carp. I was thinking a baserunner and then he would be pulled.
-
Weaver has looked pretty good the past two starts. Velocity isnt what it used to be, but still effective. Good movement and good location.
-
Since when did starting pitchers dictate the entire game?
Starting pitching certainly has the biggest impact on a game. We will see how this plays out tomorrow and see what impact Blanton and Wainwright have on the game. Then we can talk.
-
Guarantee we come out tomorrow with a series win and kick you guys out of Anaheim for another 60+ years.
So, you believe that Blanton will outduel Wainwright? Is this what you're saying? Good luck with that.
-
In order to have a bullpen like the Cardinals, an organization needs to have a solid farm. Unfortunately, the Angels dont.
If you look at the relievers, almost all of them were brought up from the minor leagues.
Trevor Rosenthal, Seth Manness, Seigrist, Butler...all in the minor leagues this year (except Rosenthal, who was a September call-up last year).
But, please remember, at the beginning of the season the Cardinals pen was horrific due to Boggs and Rzep.
-
tough game for Angels fans...
Blanton on the mound tomorrow wouldnt inspire a lot of confidence either.
-
We will win.
If we is the Cardinals, then yes.
Williams seems to be on.
Jon Jay in the 2-spot is a terrible, terrible decision. He is worse than terrible.
If A-Rod is banned from MLB for life, things he can do:

break into acting with his first movie being the re-make of Zoolander with A-Rod assuming the role of Derek Zoolander.
