Now that Hanson has missed so much time he will need to throw somewhere before going back in the rotation. Can someone on the restricted list do a regab assignment in the minors?

Hamilton 0-4. 2k

No one. He can only pitch well against the Angels.

There is no way to quickly turn this ship around. It is going to take some quality arms from the minors. However, none of those arms exist above A ball. That is at least 21/2 to 3 years away.. In two years it will be necessary to replace Kendrick and Aybar. There are no replacements in the system now. The catching position needs to be addressed. There are no viable prospects above A ball.
All this adds up to several down years save fir Dipoto pulling off a miracle or two. I don't think Chris Nelson is an answer.

It is one bad season out of several good to great ones. I don't expect this to linger past this year.
-
How many teams have a catcher who can hit and be a quality catcher? How many Buster Poseys and Yadier Molinas are there?
-
Dipoto is the one who assembled this team. If anybody goes first it would be him.
I agree that Dipoto put together a weak pitching staff and no bench. He certainly should be held accountable. I also think it is time for a managerial change no later than the end of the season.
I also think we have to see how the team plays when Bourgos, Weaver and Madsen come back. If they continue to play the same then make changes at the AS break.

This team will need a huge reclamation project. This will take several tears of building up the farm system while we watch old, broken diwn guys try to play big league baseball. I see no silver loning in that.

The bullpen will be worn out by July. I can't think of a worse starter inMLB than Blantblow. I hope Arte enjoys the look of empty seats. Because few people are going to pay for this pile of dung.
-
One of the worst starters in baseball and that was before Dipoto gave him 15 mil for two years. Unless he is going to throw BP he is worthless.

On some days, yesterday for example, you are facing an outstanding pitcher in Sales. The answer to winning baseball is to beat up on the mediocre to bad pitchers and try to hold your own against the good ones. The Angels haven't beaten up on too many this season. A lot can be attributed to Bourgos' injury and a lot to the middle of the order not delivering in the clutch. Only Pujols and Hamilton have been consistent run producers over the years and we all know both have been way below their average output early on.

I believe that Mills was out of options.

Name a pitcher that Butcher has helped. I can't think of any.
-
No way to put together a winning streak with this pitching staff, so forget it. At least we will have a protected draft pick next season.
-
This might be the rebirth of the '62 Mets.

Nothing speaks louder and has a greater impact than empty seats and there will be plenty of those the rest of the season.

After 32 Games:
Starting Pitching- D
Relief Pitching- D-
Defense- C-
Offense-C
Bench- C-
Manager- D
General Manager- F
It is pretty easy to explain the 11-21 start. Basically below average in every category. The injuries and lack of organizational depth also are huge factors.
I don't see this team winning 75 games.

Blanton 6IP 9H 5ER 3BB 6K

And CJ throws nothing but strikes.

If his feet and knees don't hold up his age won't matter. You can't hit without a strong base.

The major problem in making trades is that no team is going to trade obvious ML pitching. You have to be able to project A and under prospects and hope they don't get injured. Unless you are trading AllStar caliber players, scouting lower level prospects will be key. Also, maybe getting lucky in the international market with young arms.

You don't trade a pomeer hitter and run producer when you have no replacement. Trumbo is very valuable and with Trout, the only run producer we have.

What's more remarkable, Santana giving up four or Blanton zero.
