Hell yeah!!!!!
Don't need to worry about trading him now!

Nice win last night for the boys. Kostitsyn's shift on the Oilers' shorthanded goal was something to behold. Preds were on a powerplay, Kostitsyn couldn't handle a pass, Gagner takes possession and Kostitsyn immedately quits on the play and goes off for a shift change while Gagner fed Petrell for the goal. He left Weber and Pekka out to dry. Worse yet, he didn't even get saddled with a -1 as he got off the ice before the goal. Watch the bench go ballistic as he comes off for the change.
This week we've got San Jose and St. Louis. As of this second, Edmonton is two out of the 8th seed, four out of the NW Division lead. I sure hope that Center Ice has an Oilers feed for each game because I can't stand listening to Drew Remenda complain about all the missed calls the Sharks aren't getting. Then I'll have to listen to Darren Pang do the same during the Blues game.
LOL
Trotz was so pissed

Paajarvi has finally arrived. He's definitely got the speed and size to be a top 6 wing
-
Bobby is pretty streaky. I feel like he gets robbed more than anyone else in the league. Like he should be better than he is. I'm not complaining about him at all, but I wouldn't be too torn up if we traded Bobby and kept Perry. Ideally, I'd like to keep both

How is it that Conger has made it this far as a catcher and all of a sudden his defense is a deal breaker?
I find this strange as well. Why wouldn't the org. try to convert him to a corner position 2-3 years ago if they knew he'd never play defense good enough for Scioscia? Or were they just trying to let him develop as a catcher, hoping the defense would improve? Either way, this sucks for Conger and I hope he gets traded to a team that needs a backup catcher with pop. I think he'll make a decent career, just not with the Angels

I'm with JShep on this one.

Will you bump this thread when Morales leaves Seattle to FA! I think the biggest point you missed that one main reason why the move made sense is because Morales was only going to be with the Angels for one more season. Trumbo has four more seasons.
What if he doesn't leave Seattle?
-
I'm not going to continue arguing with you people. I'll just bump this thread when Morales is hitting .310 and Trumbo is hovering around .250 with limited power.
-
Really went on the attack there didn't we AD? Let's clear this mess up.
1. I said Richards would eventually be a #2 starter, and I stand by that, it won't happen for a couple years, but it will.
2. I believe Cron will hit 30 HR in the major leagues.
3. I never said ANYTHING about Trumbo posting a .900 OPS
4. I PREDICTED that someday, Bourjos would hit .280 or .290 with 15 HR and 40 SB. This season I've got him around .280 with 15 HR and 30 SB.
5. Mark Trumbo wasn't worse that Brandon Wood, that was a very foolish thing of you to say.
As for the rosy reds....
1. I was among the first to claim Kendrick would not win a batting title due to his issues with the low and away slider. I took heat for it, but it's looking pretty good so far (unless we count ST, which we don't, which makes your post all the more ridiculous).
2. I predicted Kendrick's down season in 2012.
3. I am predicting a slight dip in Aybar's numbers.
4. Also predicting Hamilton falls short of 30 HR.
5. I predicted Santana's down season in 2012 (though not to the degree it occurred).
6. I unfortunately predicted Reckling's downfall (a great guy still).
7. I predicted Morales would be better than Casey Kotchman (when everyone was in love with him as a prospect).
In conclusion, yeah, I'm rosy red. I think Pujols will have a good year, Trout will be as good if not better in 2013 than he was in 2012 and Bourjos will be an absolute stud. But when it comes to my ability to judge a player's assets and abilities, well I'm pretty good at that.
I know I'm not alone in this, but have you actually thought about this before posting it? Trade a 30+ HR hitter entering his prime with 4 years left on his extremely team friendly contract for one year of Jason Vargas. Now THAT would be a head scratcher. Will Morales be good in Seattle? Yes. But will he be so good that we needed to dump Trumbo with 4 cheap years left? Haha, no.
Reading comprehension...I said Trumbo was worse than Wood the last two months of the season...that's a true statement. You got pretty emotional in the rest of your post so I won't go any further with that.

Did I lose the privilege of using "butt-dart" on this board already? I should've saved it. Anyway, I find it hilarious that Trumbo has a poor couple weeks in Spring Training and suddenly we made a huge mistake by trading away 1 year of Morales for 1 year of a LH starter with a decent track record.
Because if we've learned anything, it's that a less than exceptional showing in 2 weeks of Spring Training is completely indicative of how the next 4 years will play out as a power hitter enters his prime. Brilliant, really AD. Now that we've solved this why don't we move onto explaining why trading Vernon Wells to the Dodgers for Clayton Kershaw would be a huge win for the Dodgers.
Did you not watch the last two months of the 2012 season? Trumbo was worse than Brandon Wood. So don't give me the poor couple weeks excuse. The guy has been a mess at the plate for a while. I like the guy, but you should at least acknowledge that he has terrible plate discipline...oh wait I forgot you like to paint a rosy picture about every single player in the Angels system. I remember you telling us Richards was ready to be a 3 starter last year, and is going to be a future #2 starter at worst...1.5 WHIP...enough said. I remember you telling us that Trumbo is a future .900 OPS bat...still waiting (he's now 27), You've also said in the passed that Bourjos would be a .290 hitter with 15 home runs, 40 steals and gold glove defense...seems pretty rosy to me...we'll see if you're right. You're pretty high on a guy like Cron for a guy who had a 3% walk rate in A ball as a 23 year old. My point is, take off the homer goggles please. Try evaluating players without a bias. I have yet to see you say something negative about an Angels prospect..even the one's with clear red flags.

I might just give up faith on the season if Dipoto brings back Bobby Wilson. It would mean that Scioscia still has too much power in making front office decisions
-
AD, I cannot tell you how valuable your expertise is to this board with your background as an orthopedic surgeon. Without it, I might have mistaken Albert's off seasons surgery as merely a minor tune up. I now realize his knee is about to give out for good.
Wait... What??? Skipping English 099? My bad, must have confused you with somebody else.
Dude you're so cool. Insulting me on a message board. How about you actually bring something to the thread topic?

Jump the gun a bit? There are many factors why it was Morales and not Trumbo. Morales wants to be an everyday first baseman again and the team is already committed to one. Trumbo is under club control and is a much more versatile player.
Pujols will be DH in two years at the rate his knees are going. We could have kept Kendrys to be the 1B. Signed him to a 4 year deal or something
-
Morales costs more than Trumbo.
Morales is a FA after this year.
Morales is a Boras client.
Since when is Arte worried about cost? I thought we were trying to go all out for the WS NOW? If that's the case...then you should keep the better player in my opinion that is Morales.
-
Let's face it, Dipoto made a huge mistake trading away Morales instead of Trumbo or Bourjos. Trumbo's plate discipline scares the shit out of me and Morales is now over a year removed from his first game back..he's going to smash. I called this being a horrible move right when it happened and it looks even worse now with Morales killing the ball in the Spring . We could have gotten someone better than Vargas if we traded Trumbo (who has club control years left). I just don't get it. If we're trying to win now...you might as well keep the better hitter, and I think Morales is obviously going to have a better offensive season than Trumbo this year.

Conger has to hope that Dipoto will trade him soon so he can get a shot at making an MLB career. It's clear he has no future under Mike Scioscia. I'm beginning to feel for the kid. Local kid, all that time in the minors, and he can't even get a shot because our manager doesn't like Catchers who can hit. What a shame. My money is on him going to NYY and hitting 20 HR's there a couple years.
-
I love Selanne. He's easily my favorite player of all time, but let's face it, the guy looks finished. i think they should consider resting him for a few games when Perry gets back. he's not doing good at all lately. This is probably his last run in the NHL
-
or Jepsen?
If Jepsen repeats that effort from last year...I'll give Butcher credit. Apologies if I want to see a larger sample size then 2 good months following a very inconsistent start to his career
-
And Conger just left the game with a wrist or forearm injury.
Scioscia approves
I'm kidding, for those of you who didn't catch the sarcasm
-
Dipoto and before that reagins.
Dipoto does deserve some of the blame for the pitching last year, I've acknowledged that in the past, you are correct. However, are pitching coaches useless? Why couldn't Butcher help some of the younger guys with upside like, for example, Richards?
-
Butcher?
Correct!
So Ray, do you agree that part of the reason the team missed the playoffs is because of Butcher?
-
Even with the horrible start last season, we would have made the playoffs, if it wasn't for the terrible pitching.
And who's in charge of the pitching?
