  1. Oh, and for anyone wondering, the Angels have around $29-$30 million in spending room, and they could shed another $17-$18 million by dealing Wilson, Santiago, and Salas. They could easily get two big contracts and still be in the tax threshold range (depending on the targets).

No one is taking Wilson's remaining $18MM owed next year in full. If the Angels find a taker, they will be paying a very large portion of that contract, if not all of it.

  2. I don't have a problem with those shots that Kobe takes. I have a problem with him jacking up 13 3 pointers. He's not an excellent marksman from beyond the arc. Not consistently anyways.

I agree on Randle. He needs to finish stronger at the rim. But I am pleasantly surprised with his ball skills and agility. I did not see as much of this at Kentucky.

The bench may outperform the starters a lot this season. Byron might need to look into that and see if any of the bench players need to move up to be a starter to help balance the scoring. But, that also may change as D'Angelo Russell gets comfortable at this level.

  3. I don't think so. I've been doing a lot of head to head games. I'm trying to look into more games on there.

I mainly stick to the tournaments... anywhere between 50K and 200K entrants. I'm happy if I finish in the top 20% for any kind of payout. I don't expect to ever finish high enough for a 4 figure payout. It's a rollercoaster rush on Monday nights though. A couple of weeks ago, I jumped up 1k places with a Doug Baldwin TD. I was in line to win $125 by being in the top 50 of 114K entrants. Then Detroit recovered a fumble and ran it in for a TD. I dropped 300 places and finished with a $40 win.

  4. It starts with the D men.  They are not getting the puck in the zone and setting up the forecheck.  Instead they are making idiotic passes in the neutral zone and screwing everything.

Nate, It's not just that though. Even when they do get the puck in the zone, it's one shot (if they are lucky) and done. No sustained pressure at all. Getting beat to loose pucks, no one is putting the body to the opponents. Perry was dogging it all game long. I watched him particularly throughout the game from the stands. He refused to go after any pucks. He's camping out on the weak side of the goal, not creating traffic in front. It's as if he doesn't want to be touched all game long. This is a physical game and the Ducks should be playing a physical style of hockey. They are not.

  5. I was at the game last night. It was embarrassing. That is not the Ducks team I know. This Ducks team is not using it's size advantage vs their opponents. They are also not setting up their speed players like Sekac and Hagelin with designed opportunities to get them the puck in space. I don't remember a hard hit being laid on anyone all season. If BB hasn't lost the team, the team sure is doing a good job of looking like it.

  6. The Plouffe idea I read in another thread is actually a good idea. Package Santiage for Plouffe, sign Heyward, sign Leake, get a couple bullpen arms and this team should be better.

    1. Heyward

    2. Calhoun

    3. Trout

    4. Plouffe

    5. Pujols

    6. Cron

    7. Aybar

    8. Perez

    9. Giavotella

    1. Richards

    2. Leake

    3. Heaney

    4. Skaggs

    5. Wilson

Now that I'm writing this that's 4/5 lefties on the rotation. Signing a right handed starter would probably be best

I like this idea for a lineup the most so far. A lesser number of moves equals a higher probability. Plus, I like Giavotella. He's not the best, but teams need guys like him on the roster.

EDIT: Although, I'd drop Calhoun down between Pujols and Cron. Maybe move up Aybar or Giavotella to the 2 spot.

  7. I'd like to see the Angels trade for Trevor Plouffe. He has 2 years left of club control at age 29. He's a SoCal guy. Twins need a place to put Sano and 3B is his natural position.

Then, I would like a true leadoff hitter. Someone with an OBP at least north of .330. Maybe take a chance on Span and ask him to play LF?

  8. Patience young grasshopper.  All will be revealed eventually.

Actually where she went is a big debate on the geek sites right now.  Something about blue moon, or Ms Marvels planet, or one of Thors planets.  Of the three choices, it would be way cool if they introduced Ms Marvel this way.

That's where I was getting at gb. Thanks!

  9. It was awesome being at the game last night! Trout is ridiculous!! I miss being able to see him in person any time I want at Angels Stadium, but going to these 4 games this weekend, and him performing like this, makes it not suck as much. Pure joy to watch. The old-timers I talk to out here swear he is Mickey Mantle reincarnated. They are in awe of his talent. I get asked how Trout is doing almost every day during baseball season. They are definitely envious.
