    To be honest, nothing. Hard to watch 2 generational players being wasted. Perhaps Perry’s plan will take hold over this winter but as a fan (and worse as a retired journalist) I haven’t seen anything to give me optimism. But much as I’d like to dump them and root for some team with brighter hopes, we’re stuck with each other.

    1967. Wish I could remember much detail but I was hooked. Have gone to at least one game every season possible (strikes and pandemic). Even chemo didn’t stop the streak. Got up to 40 games a season during high school, was easy to get seats and the ballpark was a jewel.

    Jim Fregosi. Best remembered now as the trade for Nolan Ryan or his stint as manager, but he was a stud at shortstop in those early years.
