one of the very truest statements i've read on this board.
Agreed

A player who can pitch and hit at an elite level?!
Ruth would be making 50 mill a year, easy.
Which brings up the question... could he be used as a pitcher every 5 days and as a DH every day he doesnt pitch ?
-
Ruth: 4yr/$100m. Teams will be nervous giving a player a long term deal because of his weight.
Williams: 5yr/$125m. He will be criticized for "calling out" the fans and media will label him "Not a team player".
Koufax: He would sign a 12 yr/$325m at the age of 25. He will then retire and walk away from the money at the age of 30.
Ty Cobb: Banned for life for beating a fan in a wheelchair who kept yelling "TY COBB SKUS!".
Gold haha

I was just thinking, because of the huge deals recently... how much do you guys think past players like Ruth, Ted Williams, Ty Cobb, koufax, etc would be worth in their prime with today's market? Obviously cant be answered, just thoughts..

Combined 4 pitcher no hitter... sign em all jerry!
-
i haven't heard anyone say he's a better pitcher than Kershaw
Then you havent been watching MLB network
-
If you've been watching mlb network, youb know what im talking about with kevin millar and the rest of the crew saying bumgarner is the best pitcher in baseball. More so than kershaw. Dont get me wrong, I love bumgarner, and hes in my top 5. If I had to go to a starter to pitch in a big game, i'd go with him cause of his confidence but best pitcher in baseball ? Kershaw, Felix, Cueto?? Id even throw Wainwright in there and maybe a healthy Fernandez.

If you bother looking at this...is the question for now, for the next 3 years, 5 years, etc?!
Well without a doubt Posey is better in the long run, but the argument is in a win now scenario.
-
Who would you take of the two catchers? Having an argument with my friend about it so just to compare.
-
Hamilton, you piece of shit.

Get this clown out of here asap, not AFTER the damage is done

lol off topic iknow, but whatever. And yeah I know this is old, I wanted to ask before just never did, but why did it become a big thing?
-
Well said OP, its the lack of identity. Couldn't agree more.
-
I was watching highlights of the Giants vs Nats. Man, the intensity within the players is crazy. Its like that all around the playoffs, cant see ONE player on the Angels showing this intensity, no leadership whatsoever.

Weaver throws a 2 run game and Shoemaker throws a 1 (unearned) run game, and we lose both, when or sp was the concern. What a shitty outcome of events.
-
Im pretty sure Soscia will have a really tight leash on CJ. If he can get through 5 we go to our pen and ill be happy with it. Sure our offense is asleep but theyre explosive and can easily put up a 7 spot on shields. Lol its as if the Royals were to give us game one because they'd be facing weaver and used up their ace the game before and look how that turned out

Your sample size is impressive.
Is it really? Because a full season of play puts him as the easiest guy to strikeout in the American League. And as someone mentioned earlier, his post asb numbers arent so hot either.

We need the player we all became instant fans of.. We need the player who would get a base hit, steal a couple bags, make a diving catch in center (or robbed a homerun), and hit an occasional homerun... the player who was a threat on the base paths on any pitch. The spark plug who ignited the ballpark. The unhumanly weapon with "Angels" written accross his uniform. More importantly we need a damn leader to lead this team to a championship, someone who can carry a team on his shoulders. 0 for 4 aint gunna cut it.
Sincerely, [the old] Mike Trout fan

Cargo and Tulo?

Do you see either of them being moved at all this off season? Whats the cost, taking into account their contacts and injury-prone resume? Any team that you see going after them? With jeter gone, any chances the Yankees could go after tulo, despite the injuries? Dont know much about the yankees farm or what they could offer Colorado..
