I was also wondering why he didn't get invited.

We've done a good job improving the pitching depth in the system but I hope we step it up with position players in the draft and international scene.  I'd like to see how Delgado progresses this year...he seems promising at least 

Other teams like the Red Sox could easily make a better offer for Hamels

The Padres.  I like that they've been actively seeking improvements in their offense to keep up with the Dodgers

Great trade for the A's 

With a couple of months left until pitchers and catchers report, I thought it would be fun to see what kind of trade ideas everyone has to further improve our team. 

Trade Idea : CJ Cron+prospect for Hunter Renfroe from SD

The Padres are looking to improve their offense and that's exactly what Cron offers.  They have good outfield depth (Kemp, Venable, Maybin, Smith, Myers will be cost controlled for 4-5 more years, Liriano was promoted last year) with a need for corner IF offense.  For us, acquiring Renfroe gives us a young OF with a strong arm and good power.  With Hamilton getting older and not returning to form, it would be nice for us to have quality depth waiting in the wings to be in the OF with Trout and Calhoun.

Another player that would be a nice acquisition is Jake Lamb from the Diamondbacks.  A young 3b who can hit for average and get on base, although I'm not sure if there would be a match with the Dbacks.

I voted about the same but I think the team we have now has the potential to be better.  Towards the end of the season last year, Howie was big for us in that he was hitting well at the cleanup spot.  We also had players who stepped up like Rasmus, Shoemaker, Santiago, Morin but we don't know if they will be able to continue to perform with the same success.  Currently we have improved pitching depth (especially SP), we've gotten younger and more athletic all around.  The potential to be better depends on who will step up with Howie gone now?  Joyce is a good addition but more importantly a healthy Hamilton and Calhoun will benefit us greatly. 

Seattle seems to be the third team with Taijuan Walker being mentioned going to the Rays.

If Walker is just going to the Rays, then might as well cut the Padres out of the deal and swap Myers for Walker.

What's the point of having Butera when he can't hit? We already have a promising defensive catching in Perez who will probably give better production offensively

I like the trade but I gotta admit I was excited to see what type of numbers Cron could produce being the full-time DH.

Rangers would probably trade Fielder for Hamilton in a second. 

Would be nice if not for the extra years on Fielder's contract.

I wouldn't mind Myers on our team.  If he reaches potential he can hit behind Trout when our "power" hitters are getting too old.

Not sure if he'd want to return to Texas.  Maybe he'll waive his no-trade clause for the Padres.   Hedges, Rentfoe nd Gettys are some interesting young prospects.

I wouldn't mind having Harper on our team but I think in the future he'll be overpaid for his talent/potential rather than actual production.  Another player from the Nats that I'd be interested in is Michael Taylor, good defensive outfielder with speed and raw power.

High risk high reward but still 10 mil is a lot for someone who's injured so often.

That's a lot more for Anderson than I expected.  I thought he would make a nice reclamation project for us but for a lot less than what he got.  Maybe Wilson does have more value than we think.

Definitely Aybar but also replace Wilson with Richards

I'm against the idea of adding Headley and would rather stick with Freese due to the large difference in salary commitment. However, I am not against the idea of replacing Freese with a young 3b who can be part of the core we have( Lamb from Dbacks? Cecchini from Red Sox?)

I don't see a match between us and the Red Sox unless it's a 3-team deal.  Betts would be a really nice pick up but he has plenty of value to other teams in the league who can make better offers.  

How about sending him to AAA to start the season and see how he does? If he still can't hit then convert him into a pitcher

Perhaps he can turn it around offensively next season, I sure hope so.  I also noticed he had 26 sb? that speed would be welcome in our lineup

What kind of a return is realistic for CJ Wilson right now?

Can he play 2nd? I doubt we're even considering him though

I definitely like the idea of acquiring Lamb.  He would be a nice addition to our young core.  I'm still also curious with how Cowart rebounds and if he still has a future at 3b for us.  We could use some speed at the top of the line-up as well
