  1. Am I the only one who would love to see Scioscia gone with Maddon replacing him? Pretty sure there are multiple people here with their own reasons for wanting him gone. All legit reasons.
  2. Scioscia's postseason resume since 2002 speaks for itself. Nothing else needs to be said.
  3. We need a manager who knows how to win in the postseason with the advantage of a huge payroll and all that talent. It's clear that something has been broken since 2002 and is in need of a replacement. 10-22 and multiple first round sweeps/exists will not get it done.
  4. Maddon did what he could with a limited budget and all that uncertainty (like whether his best players would still be with him throughout the season or traded away...or whether they can afford any of them). I would love to see what this amazing manager can do with a huge budget with lots of talent like the Angels.
  5. Managers get hired and fired for a reason...
  6. Maddon did a heck of a job with a limited payroll. He propelled and guided his team (against all odds) to amazing years - postseason included - in what was a ridiculously stacked division with teams that had a few individual players making more than the entire Rays' payroll. I can't even begin to imagine what this amazing manager can do with the budget and talent of a team like the Angels.
  7. And an ever-so-common first round exit in the real season. We need a manager who can win in the playoffs, not a one title wonder. 2002 was a millennia ago. What has he done since...?
  8. Sorry but I prefer to live in the present. Scioscia has failed miserably since that one glory year and never really came close to replicating it again. I see a bunch of first round sweeps...
  9. Yes I have. And it's a lot better than Scioscia's. 10-22 happens to be Scioscia's postseason record since 2002.
  10. Pretty sure he's talking about his entire postseason failures since 12 years ago...not just one isolated series.
  11. Exactly right. You play to win the title, not get swept in the first round to an inferior club. Scioscia's tragic decision making certainly played a role why the Angels got swept. Really hoping for Maddon... Make it happen, Arte!
  12. Great post. I think it's a combination of the length and size of the contract and fright from the backlash he would receive for letting go of a manager who guided a great team to the best record in baseball. Well, he can always use Scioscia's postseason failures as a reason I suppose or the 4 years prior of not making the postseason despite those luxurious signings and huge expectations. I would love to see Maddon manage this team. Do it, Arte!
  13. Unfortunately, Arte isn't going to eat Scioscia's large contract (otherwise he probably would've been long gone by now). Too bad because we could use a manager who isn't a prehistoric dinosaur.
  14. Except I didn't care about you congratulating Scioscia. I just posted my opinion regarding this award. You chose to care because of your constant need to argue and derail threads. If you're done then stop going back and forth.
  15. Even if I were to do that, those threads were probably littered by you telling them how wrong they are and how those threads are stupid. Amirite? In other words, unusable. Hypocrisy at it's finest. You tell other people to keep their negative thoughts out of threads that you deem are positive... yet you still post and argue in those so-called negative threads with your so-called positive thoughts. Can't have it both ways.
  16. Why do you care so much, though? If you don't like a certain post...skip over it. I wasn't the one singling out your posts and arguing against them and telling you how you're wrong.
  17. Good post, TD. I have my opinions and I just call it the way I see it. I have a lot more positive thoughts about the team than I do negative thoughts. In the end, we're all Angels fans (except the posters from rival teams) otherwise we wouldn't be here. It just becomes really annoying seeing the same droves pop up whenever any semblance of a negative post appears. I mean, it's fine to voice an opinion and all, but arguing with someone to death whenever they disagree is tiresome and takes the fun away from this board. Some people probably don't even want to post their opinions anymore because they know what's going to follow. I mean, there is a difference between voicing an opinion and constantly looking to pick an argument. Some people need to learn to live with differing opinions. Not everyone will agree on everything.
  18. Because this message board should only be about people who agree with everything and have nothing but positive opinions regarding the team and their manager, right?
  19. Nah. It's not just this thread and you know it. If someone (example) posts a negative comment about Scioscia in the gameday thread or any thread you will receive the same replies from the usual suspects. Wash, rinse, repeat. Lol. You're delusional. The only thing I get from reading your posts is some annoying, weird troll.
  20. Ok. You're dumb for thinking the opposite of what I do in regards to Scioscia. Yeah, that's the general gist of their entire argument. Some debate, eh? And no. I don't care if someone like you or Stradling disagrees with me. But look around - and it isn't just for me - the droves instantly come out whenever someone posts anything negative about Scioscia or the team. And usually the usual suspects. It's as if they cannot handle negative comments about Scioscia or the team and they feel obligated to defend to the point of obsession. It's argumentative. And annoying. Clearly they're not going to change the way I think nor am I going to change the way they think. So what's the point? Isn't that why someone like lifetime got banned? For constantly arguing to the point of obsession whenever he read a differing opinion from his own? Some people just can't handle opinions that are different from their own and feel the need to argue all the time.
  21. Lol. Big difference between commenting and attacking another's opinion to the point of obsession.
  22. One "negative" opinion about Scioscia and the pro-Scioscia droves come out and instantly turn what was meant to be a one-and-done comment into a 10 page thread. Typical.
  23. So? It's his opinion. I don't agree with it but I'm not about to tell him how wrong he is for wanting Aybar gone. And it's a lot different because I don't single out any posts you make that are in favor of Scioscia and argue against it and tell you how much you're wrong. It's one thing to form an opinion, it's another to attack another's opinion all day to the point of obsession. Not everyone will agree with you about Scioscia. It would be like me right now arguing against you for being in favor of Scioscia. How is it any different?
