  1. Wow.  Thanks for the responses.  It doesn't seem to make much sense on any level.  I've never been a fan of the gigantic contract simply because it puts financial strain on the team when trying to build out the team... AND they already have Trout with a big deal.

I sure hope it wasn't the owner trying to decimate the team before he sells as some of here have said... That would be just insane.

  2. I'll be upfront and honest.... I'm not a Angels fan but I've always loved Trout so I keep up with Angels baseball.  I'm all over the map.  When I was younger my uncle was on the Astros staff for years and he did everything from throwing batting practice to charting pitches (I got to run the JUGGS GUN) to position outfielders.  I was in the clubhouse every game blah blah.  He retired and I moved to the Dallas area for work and started following the Rangers.  Side note: I've always thought Ryan should have went into the HoF add an Angel first, Astro second and Rangers third.  Ridiculous

When I was a kid I read a book called the Bronx Zoo written by Sparky Lyle so I followed the Yankees a little as well...(it's a great read if you're ever looking fora good book).  I'm just a huge baseball fan so please don't think I'm coming here trying to start anything.

From afar, I just don't understand why the Angels held onto Ohtani?  I realize he's the best player in baseball but him and Trout (who I think is the best player in the game) have been together for awhile and it's not clicking for various reasons.  I thought the Angels could have reloaded their farm system and reset everything and still have Trout along with some l players already in the system.  I don't get it... Especially with Trout hurt and not playing.

Anyway, thanks for the time of an outsider.

  3. I've had plantar and have surgery for it and I hate to say that a 15 day DL stint is not going to help. I can't imagine being an athlete trying to play with plantar. I used to hear it with athletes and would roll my eyes and say come one...play through it.. It's not possible to play through and not have some ill effects. Bad things is...they could sit him down for the rest of the year and he might not be 100% next year...it's just terrible.

  4. pretty good back and forth here...but who (Angels fans or Rangers fans) would want Hamilton at 5/125 right now?  The problem with Hamilton is he swings and misses way too much and he has said he won't watch or study video...his whole life he has relied on a feel at the plate to see ball--hit ball.  He isn't 25 anymore and his shelf life has been reduced dramatically with all his off-field issues.  Now, when he really needs other things to help him he won't use them.  Just a bad recipe.  Saying all that, I believe at some point this year he will go on a tear and carry the team for 4-5 weeks but he low points will be more pronounced.

  5. To me, any baseball movie is worth going to see. This was a really good movie...took my wife and son and he's 13, the N word was used often and after the movie my son asked if that word was really used like that...so, it was a good teaching point. I heard a review on tv that said Ford wasn't any good...huh? I thought he made the movie...he was awesome.

  6. We took away two of some of his most valuable traits this year, playing CF and stealing bases. Even though Borjous is a great defender, I'd rather have Trout in center.

That's what I said the other day....he looks weird in LF....he is a GREAT center fielder. One of the problems is that last year Hamilton swung and missed more than any player in MLB....I believe that it is right.

  7. You haven't been an Angels fan very long, have you?  You want to talk about "strange injuries", talk to Chuck Finley, or Bobby Valentine first.  This injury by Weav is way way way down on a very long list of "strange" for the Angels.

No...I am an Angels admirer from a distance....mainly because I loved watching Rod Carew....so, no I'm not up on all the crazy injuries the Angels have sustained over the years.

  8. I shared these thoughts with a friend who thinks Toronto stands a chance in the AL East, and could claim a wildcard spot.  I say no way.  R.A. Dickey's implosion has already begun.

No kidding about Dickey...I was gonna say the same thing. It would be hard for both wc's to come out of the west but it just might happen. How great would that be!

  9. Hamilton spoke truth to power. The Metroplex IS a football town, and Texas is a football state.

And there was absolutely NO call to harass his family. None.

You think maybe he made those comments because Rangers management didn't exactly make a huge effort to keep him there?

From where I stand it appears as though the Angels were the only team foolish enough to give him that kind of money. Hamilton has GREAT talent, but he is a complete disaster off the field. Unfortunately, all the great Angel fans out there will get to see this first hand at some point.

  10. Been there. Have family that lives in Irving. They will even tell you it's not a baseball town. They love their football. And you look at the way their loser fans acted this weekends? Enough said.

Maybe if Hamilton wasn't a total d-bag, the fans wouldn't act like that. You will see...just give it time

  11. Angels are fine. They have lost three tough games. Hamilton has played in multiple day games which he admits play with his mind.....pitching has been fine,...Pujols doesn't look right and I know from personal experience that plantar is not fun. Looks like Trout might be pressing a little and face it, he is probably putting TONS of pressure on himself to repeat last years run. Angels will be fine.
