  1. Here's salary information for the Angels and every MLB team:

    http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/al-west/los-angeles-angels-of-anaheim/

And if you look towards the top of the Angels page, there's a link that says, "2014-2019 payroll obligations", which takes you to this spreadsheet:

    https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tWBCtH8eoSECZxhX-dRCHIw&output=html

We have $123 million committed next year.  That number does not include options, arbitration-elgible players, and players making at or near league minimum.

  2. How many billions were the Dodger sold for? The verdict does not financially impact them at all. At worst they will have to pay less for the next free agent that says I'm only interested in the highest bid.

It was actually only $2 billion.

But to add to your point, these Dodger players earn more than $14 million this year:

    Greinke

    Gonzalez

    Kemp

    Crawford

    Beckett

    Ramirez

    Ethier

(Kershaw makes $4 million this year; his big money starts next year.)

That $14 million is only 6% of this year's team payroll.

Hell, Magic could probably find $14 million in his couch cushions.

  3. According to the LA Times, the Dodgers are actually on the hook for about $14 million:

"Based on the verdict, the Dodgers will have to pay about $13.9 million of the verdict, said team attorney Dana Fox. The team is on the hook to shoulder all of Stow's past and future medical expenses and lost earnings, but 25% of the sum is what jurors found Stow should receive for his pain and suffering."

  4. I don't miss Hudler or Physioc at all.  Hudler was a complete homer, and both of them would say downright idiotic things far too often.  Couldn't stand listening to either one of those guys.

I really enjoy Rojas, I think he calls the game pretty fairly and is not afraid to call out players or managers.  As for Gubicza, sometimes he can get repetitive, and I don't really care for his "song title as a key to the game" silliness, but other than that he's fine.  I wouldn't trade him for Salmon, since Salmon is too much of a homer.

  5. The pitch wasn't well-placed.  Hank had set up low and outside, and Frieri completely missed his spot.

I get the frustration with Frieri. But that pitch that Roberts hit out was actually a pretty well placed fastball. It was down and in and he simply went down and got it. NOW!!! I don't have the scouting report on Roberts, but if that is a strength of Roberts then shame on Frieri. Otherwise, you just have to acknowledge that Roberts had a great at bat and that's it!!

Before i get flamed, please understand that I am from the camp that thinks Frieri needs to and should have already come up with a plus secondary off speed pitch.

You may now light the fire.
