I don't know if the marlins, nationals, and twins do those deals

One team that wasn't mentioned was the Mariners. Knowing how eager Jack Z is for offense (see Justin Upton trade for reference), I wouldn't be surprised if he put together a package that looked like this: 

Mariners acquire Mike Trout. 

Angels acquire Hisashi Iwakuma, Taijuan Walker, James Paxton, Nick Franklin, Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Nick Franklin, Danny Farquhar and Kyle Seager. 

Just out of curiosity.

 

On a scale 1-10. 1 being it'd favor the A's most and 10 being it'd favor the Angels most....Josh Donaldson, Sonny Gray and Addison Russell for Trout?

You'd probably have to add Cespedes and a few bullpen arms in order to sweeten the deal for the Angels. 

Possible packages: 

Focused on acquiring talent: 

Cardinals acquire Mike Trout. 

Angels acquire Shelby Miller, Michael Wacha, Oscar Taveras, Joe Kelly and Matt Adams. 

Focused on shedding payroll: 

Dodgers acquire Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton. 

Angels acquire Clayton Kershaw, Zach Lee, Corey Seager and Paco Rodriguez. 

If Garza is going to sign for that much money, just imagine what would happen if Kershaw hit the open market next year...****. 

It will be interesting how baseball handles an apparent shortening of the media cycle / attention span of the American public long term.

Clearly the game is economically healthy thanks to local cable TV deals. The inflation rate on these deals (aka folks who don't give a shiz about baseball subsidizing regional networks) won't last forever.

The game needs to increase the percentage of Americans who are engaged with the game. To be honest I don't see a successful plan in action from the commissioner's office.

As a baseball fan lets hope the next commissioner has the internal political capital, and will, to do just this.

I GOT THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM: MAKE BASEBALL PLAYERS WEAR #HASHTAGS ON THEIR UNIFORMS. LET THEM USE SMARTPHONES IN THE DIAMOND. 

The majority of the people who go into Angel Stadium for a game have no absolute ****ing clue about anything related to baseball. They basically go there to socialize, drink and leave after the 6th inning. This might seem like a harsh statement but it's true. This isn't bad for Arte, but terrible for real baseball fans who like to get rowdy when there's a 3-2 count with 2 on, two out and everyone stares at you like "WTF is that guy's problem"... 

Any hope for the Angels to drop Pepsi soon? Please be a yes.

Plus, still waiting for the Trumbo Jack to be introduced at the in-stadium Jack in the Box. Maybe Legends will pounce on this if he isn't traded away by the end of the offseason?

Yet another Jerry Dipoto mistake. Can we fire the guy already?

Keep Richards in the rotation permanently, as at this point, he can only get better. Trade for a young starter (maybe a Chris Archer-Alex Cobb type pitcher). Try to resign Vargas and if not, take a chance on a one year deal with Phil Hughes. Boras will be dying to get SOMETHING out of him!

How about a trade to the Mariners? Trumbo and Kendrick for Taijuan Walker and Stephen Pryor?

Remember the last time the Angels picked up an ex-Dodger pitcher in free agency that got picked up in a midseason trade? Wonder how that turned out.

Maybe this will keep Arte entertained and stay out of the front office this upcoming offseason. Maybe he'll throw the GM a bone and let him actually sign some pitching.
