  1. I don't even like Escobar at 3rd base to be honest. He was really bad defensively last year. I would rather put Escobar at second base and try Cowart at Third Base. Giavotella can't field a baseball. I'm not saying Escobar would be a good defensive second baseman, but I think he has a better chance to be a better defensive second baseman than third basemen. He's proved he can't play third.

Should had thought about that before trading for him.

  2. Why aren't we worried about a drip in production from Howie ? He's never been a good on base guy or a particularly disciplined hitter. I love him but think we should stay away. I can definitely see him dropping right off the cliff. Give these young guys a chance and put the money into a legit outfield bat and a real starting catcher.

More like LFer and pitchers will do.

  3. Sosh doesn't like the big moves. He likes to fill the roster with Mathis types. It will be interesting to see what he does at the GM meetings this December.

The only big move Stoneman is going to do in the offseason is welcome the new GM of the Angels and then let him or her take over from there.

  4. Their run in July vs bad teams sort of gave us false hope. This team has been a .500 team for the majority of the season and that's likely what their talent level is. Looking at the roster it's not hard to see why....Starting pitching is quality, though I think it lacks a true Ace. Backend of the bullpen is fine but middle relief is an issue, and last but not least, the offense. It's Trout, Calhoun, Albert Trumbo and then a whole bunch of replacement crap everywhere else, or in LF's case, you aren't even getting replacement production...that's how bad that spot's been.

Lot of areas that need improvement on this club. New GM will have some work to do with this offense in the offseason. 2B, C(Iannetta is a FA and is he worth re-signing?), DH, LF are all huge holes heading into the 2016 season. 3B has Cowart/Kubitza and maybe Freese if they re-sign him. Not exactly anything to get excited about but could be manageable there.

The DH will be the least of our problems because all we are going to do is rest players.

  5. Agree. I didn't think he was that bad. So, he's short. So was Eckstein.

The team got 3 bums for nothing. Now we know why.

Actually - one with smarts should know that DeJesus was never that good when he was younger as a Royal, Shane was over the hill as a Dodger, and Murphy has mostly been bad.

    A joke

You forgot Shane was one of the reasons Boston won in 2013 then went in the tank after that and those two rings he has are the main reason why he's here.

  6. Since 2008 - the position of Left Field for the Angels has been a wasteland of poor hitting wonders. Since GA was there, there's been several

    light hitting transients.

Now I know Trout was "forced" to play there, because we had Speedy Petey (hence - the "Trout Farm") but we all know that CF was his gig...which is why we sent Bourjos away to St. Louie (along with some kid named Grichuk) for Freese and our arson squad Captain, Salas.

Now I do remember Willits making a very cool catch at the Yankee Stadium, and who could forget Schuck's amazing in the stands nab at the Big A? But, Reggie had one half season of great hitting, and JB had a great rookie season in '13...but couldn't hit anything in '14.

But since GA was let go....these guys have patrolled LF.

Look at them...can we please get a real Left Fielder?

    Josh Hamilton

    David DeJesus

    David Murphy

    Shane Victorino

    Matt Joyce

    JB Schuck

    Daniel Robertson

    Vernon Wells

    Raul Ibanez

    Reggie Willits

    Juan Rivera

Sure GA rarely showed emotion...it looked like he'd rather be anywhere else but at the park...but the dude could hit...he made some very nice plays...and frankly I miss him...I wonder if that Grichuk kid can play outfield?

We could if Hamilton's contract wasn't eating up our payroll.

  7. Totally agree with number 1...

DiPoto knew he had to find some young cost controlled pitching due to the contracts they have on the books going forward and he did a great job. DiPoto acquired Santiago, Skaggs, Tropeano, Heaney and drafted Newcomb.

The Kendrick/Heaney swap was a trade made to better the future and one that I really liked when it was made. I don't think anyone expected Heaney to have the impact he's had this year. However, when the trade was made I think most of us knew we'd be taking a step backwards this season.

Going into the year I viewed this season as a rebuilding year and it seemed that way until that nice little win streak we went on (which seems like years ago). That streak plus Pujols' resurgence changed my expectations for this year and had me in "win now" mode. The front office instead stayed on course throughout the deadline having the future in mind. All 3 hacks we acquired can be let go at the end of the year and I think that's why they were acquired.

Hopefully this offseason we can finally find our LF'er for the future and I'm hoping Cowart continues to produce at SLC so the FO can put more money towards a LF'er. Plus I hope we bring back Kendrick next season, Gia has a terrible arm and little to no range, never thought I'd see the day I'd miss Howie but here we are!

Expect the Dodgers will get to Howie first.

  8. Should've gotten this beautiful man instead of the the three AARP Amigos.

That guy is a jackass and also the Tigers took too long in letting us know if they were selling or not because he was the Angels first choice, but had to settle with someone else. Plus the Angels are not trading for rentals.
