Fielder was injured.  He'll be healthy in 2015.  There's no way in hell the Rangers would trade him for Hamilton...

And Hamilton can't be fixed this time.  He's got his money and has no motivation to be fixed.

How is that second shot working out tonight?

Arte isn't and hasn't been playing the part of GM. He has the final say in all deals. He believes in a business family philosophy that extends from the field to the front office. He likes to get involved in the wooing of big FA because he feels it's a good marketing method to sell his organization as a good destination. He does not force the hand of the GM or dictate what players to sign. All he is saying here is, he's the owner and ultimately the buck stops at his desk. 

Everything I read on the subject said that Moreno signed Hamilton on his own, without his figurehead GM.

We're stuck with Jerry Jones down here in northeast Texas.  He tries to play the part of GM, too.  It sucks.

Guaranteed money is the only thing that makes sense. Why would you sign a contract if you don't intend to honor it?

What's wrong with having a clause in the contract that says you have to make the team to get paid?

The NFL gets it right.

Translation:  "To hell with making contact.  I'm taking my hacks."

Hamilton's contract is 100% guaranteed.  He doesn't care whether he ever hits again or not.

Do we have any advance scouting anymore on opposing pitchers? 

 

If so, is the information communicated to the hitters before the game?

 

Doesn't seem like it, from the results.

Doesn't Hamilton know that he's going to get a steady diet of breaking pitches low and away every night?

I'm just a lifelong Ranger fan that recognized Hamilton for what he is a couple of years ago.  He'll suck you in with that natural talent and those monster homers.  Then you'll realize that he couldn't care less about winning and losing.

You folks will learn soon enough that Josh and Katie are a couple of big phonies.  Their act grew very tiresome in Texas.
