  1. Most people that join the board that don't get eaten alive. That is because they are respectful. If you come on here hijacking threads or acting like a jerk because others disagree, then your stay here will be limited. It's not considered ganging up when you're pissing everyone off. Basically if you act like a tool, you'll be treated like a tool whether it be on a message board, school, work, etc.

It's called groupthink.  Look it up.

  2. Justin was a guy who had epic meltdowns on the Mlb.com boards.  It got so bad over there that anyone who says anything critical of the Angels is immediately labeled Justin.

As for me.  I only had a couple names on here and they lasted a week each at most.   Regulars will circle new people like sharks and eat them alive if you let them.  Now when I say eat them alive, I really mean goat them into some bannable offense then eliminate you.  They really got it down to a science.

Power structures or hierarchies  are not just alive in everyday social groups like jobs, churches and schools they are on the message boards/Interwebs too..

  3. It's like everyone on here can agree that Trout gained weight.   Right.  Honestly I haven't seen him sprint because they don't really run Sprints in training.   Second he said he gained the weight because he always loses the weight in Spring Training.  But if you watch the video with his mom and dad that was filmed a few weeks back, his dad said his weight gain was caused by his mom being a "feeder".  So did he really gain it on purpose?  Doesn't seem like the 2 statements add up.

Like I said before, I am not worried about the offseason as much as now.

  4. Yeah, I've been to spring training a couple times and whenever I stop by Diablo stadium...I see very little intensity in any of the practices. Lot of messing around taking weak little swings like their too cool to play. Never see anyone running, never see anyone doing intense fielding drills. Just a lot of lazy little groundballs hit at the short stop once every 5 minutes. These guys need reps. Not just hit one ball every 5 minutes and stand around playing tiddlywinks the rest of the time.

Its true man.  I come from a college football background and of course my first Spring Training ever a few years back when I moved to AZ was the Angels.  I was like it can't be this easy.  (baseball I mean) This is almost a joke.  But then I saw the way the Rangers and Giants train.  Then the White Sox when Ventura got there.  I was like.  It really is Mike and his lollygagger approach to training.

Honestly I didn't watch training back in the old baseball days.  But from the old timers I have talked to at the Brewers training facility they say training is changing with the times and they moving more in the way of football.  Maybe Mike is stuck in the past.

  5. Here is a training comparison.

Robin Ventura has his players running hard, (overspeed drills, power running drills with bands)  hits for the most power I have seen in the Cactus league during batting drills and the players looks really in good shape.  Sometimes the players actually stay till 3 or 4 pm just running.

Mike Scioscia  honestly I barely see them run.  They do some rubberband stretching and then they play catch.  Then they follow it up with a weak Batting Practice with little to no instruction.  Time to time they work on some double play drills.  Always stop by 1pm.  Never ever ever seen them go over.

  6. AD he removed Rodney three days into 2011 then removed Walden a month into the season in 2012. The team was stacked last year, except for a lousy pitching staff. I'm guessing Mike asked Haren to be hurt, for Santana to be shitty, for CJ to be hurt. It's a ridiculous argument. I would have loved to have heard the conversation Mike had with Albert asking him to suck the first month of the season. Blame the underperforming players.

My opinion,   Haren, Santana, CJ and Abert all had terrible conditioning.   Heck the whole team.   Can you blame it all on the Strength and Conditioning coach.  Nah I blame Mike.

  7. Angelduck,

Mike Scioscia is notorious for slow starts and after traveling around the cactus league for the last few years I really feel like he is just too kick back in Spring Training in comparison to other Managers.  It just seems like the Angels are on Vacation with their training.

I dunno, just my observation.   And here we are in 2013  Same S#it different year.  Like the guy will never change.
