  1. The Angels need a starting pitcher more than a clubhouse leader.

Quote from another thread from Dan Haren: "With all the teams I've been with, I don't think I've [played with] a guy that led a clubhouse like he had," Haren said. "His desire to win, the guy is out there every day. It was really impressive to see his leadership qualities. I guarantee that is probably one of the biggest things they miss -- it's him in that clubhouse." This hits my point to start this thread. You can say they "need this" and "they need that", but until someone wants to take charge in the clubhouse, these guys will continue to show up and just pick-up their paycheck. And no, I'm not in their clubhouse to see what happens, nor do I have insider information, but unless you want to open up your checkbook and pay for a starting pitcher, THIS is the team we were dealt with and this is the one MS has to work with.

  2. I am so sick and tired of hearing about what great leadership Torii provided last year. Torii was gone for two weeks to fix his most important leadership problem in his life, his son. The Angels had three years of Torii leading them where after Vlad left? He made a lot of noise in the press but that doesn't mean he was leading anyone to better themselves.

Point taken (re: Tori). But at some point, someone has to get mad about the product on the field. Arte doesn't talk, none of the players get mad, hell, at least MS showed some grit tonight involving the protest. I'm just saying, as a long time Angels fan, and by looking at the posts on this forum, the fans are pissed. Who takes charge in the Clubhouse and turns this Titanic ship? "Someone" needs to take charge (player) and call these guys out.

  3. In years past, there has always been that one guy who leads this team, who calls guys out, who calls the team out, who holds team-only meetings, etc... This years' team doesn't have any leadership in the clubhouse. It appears, IMO, that each player is an individual working on their own stats. Do they all run from the dugout when they win? Sure, why not? It looks good. But in years past, someone was the "leader" when we were in a slump. Is it the Tori Hunter effect? Heck, even Tori called out MS last year. I don't know, just one man's opinion. But it seems like we have a bunch of prima donnas who worry about the paycheck rather than being a "leader".

  4. How many times in your life have you EVER seen an opposing pitcher actually WANT to pitch to the clean-up hitter with one out and the winning run on 2nd base? C'mon, the Mendoza Line is rock bottom, not a GOAL. Sit him for the Texas series.

And yes, you need to sit a guy who makes over $154k per game. I've seen 4 yr. olds who have a better swing trying try to swat butterflies then Josh "waving" at off-speed pitches. Sit this dude!
