  1. Walsh was the Angels firstbaseman and was going nowhere until last season's crash both physical and emotionally after his 2022 injury. So there was no plan to draft Schanuel and promote him early because the position was filled. But shit happens and that is why Schanuel is in the lineup. Of the 100 positions that needed to be filled in the minors, pitching was #1 on the list followed by middle infielders, catchers, some backup outfielders and probably last on the list was first base. But the position was filled by Walsh and there was little thought that he wasn't going to cover for another few years of club control. Sorry if I shot down your argument. Now, can we get back to the game Schanuel is not playing in?
  2. What a tightrope act. That last pitch was the exact right call, he had command of the curve and delivered it perfectly.
  3. Soriano is really depending on that curve for strikes. His fastball, is all over the place but he seems to have great command of a harder pitch to throw.
  4. Escapes with another very good defensive play. I don't know where the overall defense ranks compared to last season but the eye test likes what they have been doing.
  5. Why don't you keep this to the Schanuel thread instead throwing more shade on the GM that has been rebuilding an entire minor league and not one specific position while the game is progessing. Thanks in advance.
  6. You go late on a hit a day run but the batter has to make contact. No reason to trust Net-0 with that task while he is in a hitting slump. It could be a Washington mind game to push Neto out of comfort zone and play instinct baseball. Would have been a better call with Rendon up.
  7. 3 scoreless for Soriano, even with little fastball control. That play by O'Hoppe was extraordinary. Best trade since Fregosi for Ryan.
  8. He is going on cue, I doubt he has a green light. They need to harness that speed for better pitch counts but then you have Net-0 up there that hit what would have been a double play if Adell wasn't on the move.
  9. 2 good innings by Soriano. Lots of breaking balls setting up the heat. If he can locate that fastball innings will go quicker.
  10. You are the go to guy on progressive talking points. Click on the blue link to read why NPR is upset with their editor revealing backstory on their change in reporting policy. It's evil.
  11. https://www.npr.org/2024/04/16/1244962042/npr-editor-uri-berliner-suspended-essay NPR has formally punished Uri Berliner, the senior editor who publicly argued a week ago that the network had "lost America's trust" by approaching news stories with a rigidly progressive mindset. Berliner's five-day suspension without pay, which began last Friday, has not been previously reported. Yet the public radio network is grappling in other ways with the fallout from Berliner's essay for the online news site The Free Press. It angered many of his colleagues, led NPR leaders to announce monthly internal reviews of the network's coverage, and gave fresh ammunition to conservative and partisan Republican critics of NPR, including former President Donald Trump. "During most of my tenure here, an open-minded, curious culture prevailed. We were nerdy, but not knee-jerk, activist, or scolding," Berliner writes. "In recent years, however, that has changed." Berliner writes, "For NPR, which purports to consider all things, it's devastating both for its journalism and its business model." @Taylor?
