  1. Exactly Note all the foliage still in perfect condition.
  2. But the whole chewing and spitting blubber would kinda gross me out.
  3. While I understand fans liking the idea of Erstad, it just seems extremely far-fetched to me. I really don't know anything about how he works in terms of analytics, other than he introduced its use at Nebraska when he was hired there. I don't know the extent of his understanding of how teams currently implement data at the MLB level, and he has no experience in the sea-change of the managers role from the time he was a player. Also, while noted that he was a finalist for the Dodger job back in 2015, it's 8 years later and he hasn't worked at any MLB coaching or front office capacity so he is still an unknown to GMs who want to know that their manager is willing to subjugate their will to that of the FO. Even if he's committed to analytics, he's never lived with having to implement decisions that he may be opposed to personally. I especially don't see Minasian being okay with someone like Erstad being that his job is likely on the line based on the results of the 2024 season.
  4. Yeah, number one on my list of desireable traits is berating the team while throwing bats in the shower. /S
  5. I can't see bringing in Bellinger when they will need to significantly invest in the pitching staff. They desperately need a top of the rotation arm. Sandoval, Detmers, Canning, Silseth and Daniels/Suarez (or whichever #5) could be anywhere from AL average with complete health, bounceback from Sandy and continued development from the others, or a disaster. But, the latter seems far more likely than the former because they won't all stay healthy. Even if they invest in the bullpen and bring in someone to demote or challenge Estevez as closer, they still need that starter that will anchor the rotation and that won't be cheap. I'd prefer Moniak compete with Adell and some to-be-named veteran for LF and utilize Bellinger money on the pitching staff. If Ward can regroup it will still be a strong offensive OF. Just wish that it was a more robust FA class for arms.
  6. Schadenfreude has it's place sometimes. It's literally universal at some level. When directed towards the Dodgers, as long as the team plane didn't drop out of the sky or something, I'll give it a pass.
  7. Starting to wonder if upper tier pitchers would sign here without a significant overpayment (dollars or term). Or, there is something with them to be cautious of like age, suspect analytics (Anderson), injury history or recovery from, such as the case with Syndergaard. Angels playoff track record, or lack thereof, would seem to whittle down the upper tier. I like your previous post, going with depth in the rotation and BP, as opposed to top tier, may become more of a necessity than an option. Good thing is that Minasian does like to make his best offer early. Even though Anderson didn't work out, he went after him aggressively early. Hopefully he identifies a better candidate this time and can prioritize the bullpen.
  8. I'd rather see a pitching-specific breakdown.
  9. Embrace the suck. Victory will be that much sweeter when it comes. See 2002, and if a Kings fan, when they finally won the first SC. Until then, explore new varieties of alcohol. Or quantities.
  10. Angels Fans: Every start of season Around trade deadline: And it'll be like that for me again next year. In the meantime, Bruins football and LA Kings.
  11. Okay, I agree, but that's why I posted what I did, which was to bring up a couple of reasons why he won't be traded. Not sure why you quoted my post rather than those who advocated including him in an Ohtani trade.
  12. It would be nice to move Rendon but with his no-trade clause and him being a Boras client, I can't see him agreeing to being moved without something (besides going to a contender; read$) extra.
  13. Well Lowder, Dollander and Meyer were gone by 11 so I didn't have much vested in any particular bat that they selected here. I had thought they would get Teel (C) who was still available, or Gonzalez. If Teel was picked and develops nicely, it would be interesting to see who among O'Hoppe, Quero and Teel would become a valuable trade chip.
  14. I would think that any Angels offer would have to come with a detailed outline of how they will be spending in the upcoming years. There will have to be some guarantees that they will go past the luxury threshold in order to build a legitimate roster along with creating depth that doesn't require utilizing farm capital. Barring such a commitment to going over the threshold to "get over the top" why wouldn't Ohtani see any offer as asking him to sign in blind faith that things will be different.
