Yeah, they looked like typical Toronto teams of the past. They have players, some very good. But they don't have a team that can compete at a playoff level.

They just keep trying to succeed in the playoffs with the same basic personnel makeup and it's not going to happen.

And after we both said this, they evened the series by winning in Boston last night.

    Winner, winner chicken dinner ?

Or, still too early to call ?

Toronto wasn't even competitive in game 1 after the first period. I could maybe see it if they were coming out of a seven game series, but this was the first game of the playoffs.

  3. I remember when he was incarcerated in Nevada. When he came through intake, his medical file disappeared for a couple of days. It later turned up in an unconventional place, and whoever had gone through it obviously had no idea where documents were supposed to be filed in a medical chart. Everything that he had signed had been replaced with copies, and the originals were taken. I had occasion to go to High Desert State Prison while he was there for intake (I wasn't working there at the time), and a television reporter in the parking lot shoved a microphone in my face. I told him that he had to talk to the Public Information Officer.

From High Desert State Prison, he was sent to Lovelock Correctional Center. Lovelock was chosen because it was a good distance away from the Las Vegas and Reno media markets. Even so, somehow word leaked out when he was being released, and media descended on the small Pershing County town (I have been there, and it is pretty remote). The Director of Nursing there told me that the media in the immediate area were eating up so much bandwidth that her staff couldn't get their jobs done because nothing would load on the computer system.

And I'm dealing with a deadbeat buyer who makes excuses over and over for the last two months for not returning an item I refunded him. Which I didn't have to because he misread the ad. But now it's almost impossible to dig through the automatic 'help' templates they use instead of talking to real people..

I recently filed a claim with them regarding an item that I never got. Ultimately they ruled against me because the tracking record showed that it was delivered to me - which it wasn't. I'm out $50 for nothing. Their customer service used to be at least decent. This makes me never want to buy anything on there again. It should be clear to them from my transactional history as both a buyer and seller that I am not in the habit of requesting refunds.

  5. If they can afford $68 million + for the land auction and billions for development of the site, why on Earth did they not pay the rent in Glendale? None of it makes any sense. Just a week ago, ownership publicized grandiose plans for a sports/entertainment/commercial district in Scottsdale, complete with renderings.

  6. ESPN and others are reporting that Arizona Coyotes players have been informed of an imminent relocation of the team to Salt Lake City. A team trip to SLC has been scheduled immediately after the Coyotes' final home game on April 17. Word is that the Coyotes name and logo are being left in Arizona, and the current team ownership is being given five years to complete significant steps toward overcoming previous obstacles (including a permanent arena), which would allow the Coyotes to return, this time as an expansion franchise.

    What a total freaking mess.

You think Ippei will attend the next AW poker tourney?

If he does, watch your wallets, boys.

One thing that likely contributed heavily to this was the language barrier. Ippei speaks English and Ohtani doesn't - at least not a lot. This explains Ippei's access to Ohtani's bank account, since he almost certainly helped him set it up. He was also able to prohibit access to bank data by accountants, who would have caught what was going on pretty quickly.

There may be some NHL caliber players in Henderson but nothing more than lineup fillers. They’ll replace Stephenson and Martinez going forward with Hertl and Hanifan but their fate really relies more on Stone’s health and Hill not turning back into a pumpkin. And they better be real sure Hertl’s knee is fit

    That all sounds very accurate.

I don't know.  San Jose traded their draft capital for the playoffs.  What's funny is, people want to bail them out, now that they suck.  I say F them.

We have a pretty good idea of what we still have in the minors, because almost all of them have been called up at one time or another. Injuries have been a huge deal this season. At one point we had eight starters out, most for a significant period of time.

The Knights made another huge trade of draft capital and prospects today. When those bills eventually come due, they’re going to come due badly.

I wouldn't count on it. This is a place where free agents want to play. The team also stockpiled draft picks, so players from the minors being dealt hasn't been that big of a deal.
