15 pages of basically the same stupid arguments back and forth rather than just conceding to changing the name to a lake fish and be done with this. 

Fewer games played over the same time frame as normal doesn't solve the issue that the owners have.  For them it's about butts in chairs.  That would actually make it worse unless the players agree to get paid less money which they won't.  
For the owners, it's all about setting up the timing so there is an opportunity to pack the stadiums during the regular season and spring training facilities during feb/mar.  
The players just want to start getting paid as soon as possible.  

Sorry, that's wrong.  There was a land war in Ireland where lots of land was "stolen" from many Irish people.  I can tell you personally that my family were modestly successful land owners in Ireland, but were run out of their own property with violence in the late 19th Century.  It was give up your property or be killed.  It was more or less a forced "redistribution" of land ownership to those that were willing to risk their lives to fight for it.  It's called war.
This stuff happens everywhere across the globe for centuries.
Coincidentally to this conversation, much of my family bailed out of the violent environment and went to Canada, and then legally immigrated into the US into. . . . Cleveland.  So my personal family history in the US starts in Cleveland.  My grandfather was a huge Indians fan.  I used to have his old hat, but I don't have it anymore.  I wish I still had it.

I think that is an easy-to-take, speculative position.  You can say no harm is done by changing names, and I can shrug my way through that no problem.  But to be fair, I would equally say that nothing, literally nothing, will be accomplished in changing the team names.  Literally nothing.  All of the actual, real problems Native Americans face will be exactly the same with the team name changes not moving the needle at all on anything that actually matters.
But lots of people who are addicted to showing they care will celebrate that they accomplished something.  Lots of people see problems, and they get upset by those problems.  There is nothing wrong with this, of course.  The issue is when it instantly turns into, "Something must be done!" and they just choose something to be done that does nothing.
Their personal need to "Do something" has no patience and has no discipline.
Anyway, when push comes to shove, I like the "Indians" name.  I actually like it.  But who cares?  If they want to change the name for whatever reason they want to change the name, have at it.  Whatever.
But I can't bring myself to buy into that team names are contributing to ANY of the actual problems Native Americans face, and changing the team names will do absolutely nothing to address any real problem in any way.

No. But there more important things to worry about. Like how much you spend on a jersey.

Already seen that movie. Wasn't expecting or looking forward to a sequel.
It's especially bad when other leagues - who actually have legit potential issues - zoomed through with only minor issues by comparison. 

Delays are gonna get ownership some nasty press. Especially after the success (in the eyes of fans) of 2020, and the fact that actual contact sports (NFL, NHL, and to some degree NBA) made it through as well, even in Winter. And NFL has much larger rosters as well. Their excuses will look really petty. Maybe they don't give a crap, but it isn't going to set them up well for the CBA negotiations after the season if they screw this up. Knowing their typical MO, they definitely will screw it up.

I've wondered about the whole "lost $3B" thing, too.  My guess is that that simply means that they made $3B less than they were expecting to--which is not really the same thing.

We've had enough of that crap for the last six years. Pass.

All of Africa shit on each other. African slavers raided europe for white slaves. Europe all fought itself for a millenia. The middle east is filled with a history of slavery and genocide. He Roman empire. Ghengis khan.... japanese imperialism etc etc
 
The point being, this isnt an american thing. Or a white thing. Its a human thing. 
No one is suggesting forgetting it happened. But taken in context, its pretty ancient history. And its not in any way unique.

This is 100% done by the outrage of middle America looking to be upset about something. Rage! America bad everyone else good. But not outraged at the millions of Muslims being sent to concentration camps in China. Look the other way be upset at random names and things that happened 100s of years ago, not actual things happening now. Nope way too much energy for that shit. 

An interesting thought too, but Rosenthal suggested in his piece this morning that the Angels might be looking to trade a prospect, along with Upton, to help offload his contract.  They'd still have to eat a sizable chunk of it I imagine, but perhaps they can find someone who will take on ~10mil per year of his remaining salary if they attach a prospect of some kind.
Notably, he has a full-trade clause, so that deeply confounds things, but it's an interesting suggestion nevertheless.

I'm fairly doubtful that fans will be back at the games in full force. Even if they allow it.  Which I don't think will happen right away so my guess is that there will be another battle between the owners and players about what else.  Money.  I think that's why everything is being left undecided at this point because they holding it all back as potential bargaining chips.  
I think they'll ultimately play a full season but not in front of fans the whole time.  I bet we keep the universal DH and expanded playoffs.
