Are you saying he should have gone public? That would be a career killer.
Maybe he has behind the scenes.
I find it difficult to say he is a terrible GM considering our recent history of short-lived GM's. Seems like another entity is the constant here meanwhile the GM's are forever revolving.
No, I'm not saying he should have gone public. Like I said, maybe he did go behind the scenes. He just comes across as a yes man and doesn't push back much on Arte from what I understand.
Just frustrating overall. The moves he's made haven't really worked out, but it's the moves he didn't make that have me mostly scratching my head.
Would have been great to have brought back Reynaldo Lopez as a starter like the Braves did after signing him, and Jordan Hicks.
When Lorenzen and Montgomery's price went down, why not sign one of them? They really thought that Sandoval, Canning, Silseth, Detmers and Anderson was a good rotation? I mean thank God Anderson has performed much better, and Detmers has looked good. But holy hell that was a rotation of question marks going into the season.
Amed Rosario who is killing it offensively can play 2B, SS and OF. Would have been another cheap signing and addition to bolster our depth.

I think it’s somewhat by design the Perry doesn’t. I think Arte hires inexperienced FO executives so that they run the baseball ops the way Arte wants it run. That’s certainly his right, but it may not be the best way to construct a winning baseball team. I may be incorrect, but I feel like more accomplished GMs would be willing to operate with those kinds of restrictions or interference.
I think that's a fair assessment of this topic.
I'll just say this. The Angels ownership and front office is a complete mess.

Arte instructed Perry to keep Ohtani rather than trade him.
And Perry is the GM so he should be putting up some type of fight. Maybe he did? Who knows.
Honestly, I think he's a terrible GM.

That’s on Arte, not Perry.
Sorry but while Arte takes most of the blame, there needs to be push back from the GM on the team's future success. So he gets part of the blame.

Same bullshit that kept Lagares, etc here. Delusion by front office about value of non-performing veterans. Good for the clubhouse or whatever. "Reliable" or "strong defensively" and all the crap.
and my all-time favorite, Andrew Velazquez.

I could see Jason Martin recalled to replace Hicks if he doesn't start contributing soon.

The situation is that they could have moved Ohtani each of the last two deadlines and did not, and instead made illegitimate moves last year in a vain attempt at making the playoffs, and have done nothing since to communicate any type of plan for the future. Trading some bullpen scrubs for low level prospects this year does little.
I 100% agree with this and it still bums me out that we didn't trade him ahead of last season or at the very least the trade deadline.
Heard that the Dodgers were offering Michael Busch and Pepiot at the deadline. Huge swing and miss by Perry and Arte.

Which is you misunderstanding the situation. They only spent on the pen in the offseason, and all but one of those arms is “flipable” at the deadline. They didn’t spend big with a goal to compete. They signed guys that could be moved or released.
This is true.

This is literally the worst season to be a fan in the history of the Franchise.
I disagree. I'm actually digging watching the Halos more this season than the past few years.
While the 90's sucked in the standings outside of '95, it was great to see Salmon, GA, Edmonds, Erstad, Glaus, Percy, etc. with some of the veterans like Chili Davis, Hudler, Finley, Abbott, Langston.
Seeing those younger guys get the time in and do well all led up to a core that ultimately saw them win a championship together.

Dude finally looks like his head is slowing the game down to where his talent can take over. Its almost criminal that Hicks has been playing over him.
He looks better at the plate and defensively, but he needs to pull his head out of his ass on the basepaths still.

I'll let the graphic designer know. Thank you for your feedback.

I've just reverted back to using screenshots of the MLB.com lineups since they show stats. I kinda like seeing the stats.
Yeah I do too if I'm being honest. I think I'll just use these for X only.
If I had the time I would put their stats in too. Maybe for big games or series openers down the road.

Thank you for doing these despite the lackluster play, @jsnpritchett.
I've been traveling a bunch for work. Spent some time at the Chick-Fil-A campus in Atlanta. Beautiful. Great people that work there.

From Baseball America this morning:
Caden Dana, RHP, Angels: Dana was sent straight to Double-A to start the season, which was a very aggressive push for a 20-year-old who came into the season with just 14 full-season starts. So far, he’s had no issues with Double-A hitters. Dana threw seven scoreless innings against Pensacola on Sunday. He allowed two hits and one walk while striking out eight. Dana is now 1-1, 1.87 with 19 strikeouts, three walks and only eight hits allowed in 18.1 innings.

While true, he's also had two SB's taken away from him. Thanks, MLB.
