Shohei Ohtani signs with the Dodgers (10 years, $700 million)
TBM-850 replied to mmc's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
He was a fun player to watch on a team that usually wasn't. The only regret is not trading him+ at the deadline for a couple top 100 prospects. Neto, Schanuel, O'Hoppe, Quero plus another two top prospects would have made a good young core. -
Fat pitchers had a tough time with the pitch clock. Manoah's walk rate more than doubled from 2.33 bb/9 to 6.08 bb/9. Lance Lynn and our Suarez both doubled their walk rate too. Manoah's velocity also dropped 1mph, perhaps from the fatigue. Pitching is a precise athletic movement. If you can't control your heart rate you will lose that precision. There was a reason why fats like Colon and Baez were walking rain delays. They were taking extra time to control their heart rates. My own precision (shooting) dips at 90 bpm and at 150+ bpm it's tough to even hit the target. Manoah would be a good buy low acquisition but I expect TOR will try to get him in better shape instead of selling low.

Top view of water deluge.

Just next year. This year's perigee was nothing too special.
-
It looks like they are stacking starship onto super heavy booster for the 2nd launch attempt. Last time (april) the 19 million pounds of thrust destroyed the launch pad and dug a huge hole which took months to fix and redesign with a water deluge system. Let's see if they got it right.

It's at perigee today. The next time it will be this close will be Oct 2024.

WTF is with this bleeping weather?

A hard landing at John Wayne airport during the storm. Left landing gear driven up through the wing. A short runway, heavy crosswind, darkness and wet runway (braking) are a bad combo. -
Gameday Thread (5/22/23): Angels vs Red Sox - Barria on the mound

Great job by Barria and the pen. Fast game too. Barely 2 hours. -
They are hitting .339 with RISP as a team which is 48 points higher than the next best team (redsox). If they can keep it up they deserve it but I think Hou will run them down.

Considering how terrible they were for their first 10 years, TB is now within range of a .500 all time record if they keep winning for a few more years (-110). The Angels were the only expansion team with an all time winning record but have fallen back (-40) over the last few years. Houston has that spot now (+10). The Phillies and Orioles are hopelessly buried with their all time records, both more than -1000 each. It would take several decades of great teams to get out of the hole. The Yankees could lose 100 games for the next 68 years and still be above .500

Holy shit. My boys just took out Arizona.

The garbled audio was an upgrade over O'Neal. Randazzo sounds good so far. -
I climbed Mt. Langley (14,032') which is close to the Cottonwood Lakes. Of the 14ers that I've climbed (Whitney, White, Shasta) it was the toughest. Very hot and dry above the treeline. There is one section between maybe 12000 and 13500 that is like climbing a damn sandpile. If you ever want to climb an 'easy' 14er, White Mtn (14,246') is the easiest. All Class 1. You can also visit the bristlecone pine forest nearby which are the oldest trees on Earth. They aren't impressive like Sequoias but they were already alive when the Pyramids were built (probably).
