  1. Hopefully Rendon can play in the majority of the games. We are a better team with him in the lineup.
  2. The bullpen is bipolar at the moment. Estevez, Moore, Quijada, and Wantz are performing to expectations, Herget, Loup, Tepera, and Barria are not. Anderson and Suarez are not performing at the moment among the starters.
  3. Actually we have outfielders, veteran and some with real promise (Adel and Monicak). We don't have a better catcher than O'Hoppe at the moment. This is one of those trades you just have to love, both teams appear to have gotten very good young and controlled players.
  4. This kind of scares me. He will be pitching against Kansas City next, so hopefully he can find his "mechanics" against a poor team.
  5. Hey, we are 16 games into a 162 game season. I like Perry being aggressive, and trying to give this team a boost. But I don't know how you give up on veteran players at this point. I like the idea of Fletcher trying to reinvent himself at Salt Lake, same for Thais. I would swap Wallach for Thais at this point, and risk losing Thais. They have played so few innings, and have so few AB's, anything is possible going forward. The same applies to some of the bullpen. Loup had a horrible start last year, then he cleaned it up later in the year. I am not a Loop fan or Tepera for that matter. But you can chase bullpen arms forever, you just never know what you are going to get, and they can change dramatically month to month (we are still in month 1). The better alternative would be young hard throwers like we have in the minors, but from scanning the minor league results so far I don't know if any of them are quite ready yet. There is also a better chance that remaining free agent bullpen arms could be simply trash. And we are not at the time of the year when trades are likely to go down. I really like Neto at SS, but it's going to take quite some time for him to move through a MLB learning curve. If he really has the confidence to take over at SS like he says he does I am all for throwing all the support that he needs to be successful. Like I said in another thread, if he starts down a dark road we have a batch of young prospects that maybe can help. Soto came up late last year and hit .400, and he might be among the weakest of the group which consists of Guzman, Vera, Jackson, and especially Paris.
  6. Neto's will get a long trial period, and while he has only one hit so far, he does not look overmatched to me. He is making good contact, has a good awareness of the strike zone, and is fielding well. The Angels have five possible shortstops behind him in the minors who are in the top 30 prospects - Paris, Guzman, Jackson, Soto, and Vera. They are all very young and who knows how they will finish developing.
  7. He was solid defensively at SS in Spring Training. The only thing I thought that was possibly questionable was how much range he had.
  8. I don't know why they don't use Thaiss some at first now.
  9. I only root for the Angels, none of the other teams matter.
  10. The Nationals are full of energy, they are young and full of hope that they can make an impact. They have nothing to lose right now. Once they get brought back to earth their weaknesses will be more exposed. All of the pressure is on the Angels to perform up to expectations, and do it now.
  11. True. I went to that game with some friends, and it was so shocking when I got the news of what had happened after the game to him. Someone so young with such a bright future, it was devastating. .
  12. O'Hoppe interview after the game was A+++, for 22 years old this guy is great. He's calm, and is the real deal, defensively and offensively. He also handles interviews better than anyone on this team.
  13. Hernandez probably bent out of shape because Anderson decided to sign with the Angels than stay with the Dodgers.
  14. So does Fletcher replace Rendon, play shortstop, and move Urshela to 3B? Also put Fletcher at the bottom of the lineup hitting wise? It would be great if Drury and Renfroe start banging it tonight.
  15. Angels drop Brett Phillips for free agent Skye Bolt. Bolt assigned the number "1".
  16. Guess who this is ??? .....
  17. This is a team that wants to pay as little s possible in player salaries, they aren't going to spend anything on stadium improvements. They need to move as well, out of the country would be best.
  18. Just speculating on the new hat......
  19. Yeah, you posted the "real ones." Love the moves, lol.
