  1. Congrats on tying up the series Halos fans! CJ was great tonight (definitely one of many "M's daddies") Rubber game tommorrow should be a good one: Kuma vs. Shoemaker
  2. what worries me is the whole "playing to their competition" deal . . . M's are 28-28 vs. teams under .500 and 39-28 vs. .500 or better teams they start a 3-game series with Philly today and then Boston over the weekend
  3. Very possible that the M's "road warrior ways" will catch up to them in the second half . . . 27-18 on the road 24-26 at home and, specifically vs the Halos: 3-0 on the road, 3-3 at home . Should be a great series
  4. No, can't make it tonight. (even if I could, I've got no desire to see Maurer get shelled ;-) although, I was sure Kuma was going to cruise vs the Stros so, ya just never know) Have fun!
  5. FWIW (maybe nothing) . . . the Halos have gone 19-6 vs teams under .500 and 10-17 vs teams .500 or better the M's have gone 9-11 vs team under .500 and 17-15 vs team .500 or better As I mentioned in the game thread, the M's seem to play up (or down) to their competition . . . Clearly, they need to do better vs the lessor teams.
  6. Take it as a compliment . . . playing up to their competition ;-) (coulda used a bit more life last night though)
  7. btw - how do you embed tweets here?
  8. If we're lucky, they'll get a head start on 2015 by about mid-May 2014
  9. For some reason, I was thinking about this tragedy the other day, not even realizing that it's been five years. Still so terribly sad. I hope his friends and loved ones and teammates have had some healing and comfort in their memories of Nick. http://compassrosy.com/2009/04/09/nick-adenhart-a-real-angel-now/
  10. A collection of tweets, photos and videos from the evening (that, due to other obligations, I had to miss) . . . http://compassrosy.com/2013/08/12/24-minutes-with-24/
  11. You can watch his nephew (Gabriel) down in the M's low minors
  12. I was at the M's / Halos game at Safeco last night and it was funny when they did a live cut in to the Giants / Pads game on the big screen between innings in Seattle... Tim already had one out in the 9th, we got to see the 2nd out live but then they changed the video back to our live game stats, lineup and such... and the crowd booed long and loud. They ended up showing the 27th out and ensuing celebration in replay (between batters in the live game in Seattle) .... and the crowd roared Congrats, Timmy!
  13. It brings my heart joy to see the Mariners rankings in offensive categories for the month of July Yes, it's a small sample size but, not sure they've had things clicking this well in any two week period over the last several years. Of course Rauuuuuuul had been a huge part of the production but, so have MANY of the young guys and that's what is so encouraging. Obviously, even at this pace, they're not likely even sniffing a WC but, if they can continue to produce during the second half, it will go along way toward building their confidence for the future and helping them to learn to win (not to mention, help give the FO a good idea of who's going to "stick and stay" and what gaps need to be filled in an off season that should see the M's fairly flush with cash). Kinda unfortunate that the "gelling" comes just prior to the ASB . . . Here's hoping the break doesn't affect any momentum gained but, just provides rest and recharge.
  14. Even harder to believe that Raul's now 21 home run total leads the ALW . . . Cruz 20 Trumbo 19 Carter 17
  15. I think the chances are pretty decent that: one will be really good, one will be pretty good and one will be traded . . . And I'm good with that
  16. Congrats, Halo fans. What a come-back (can't imagine Felix has EVER given up SEVEN consecutive hits) There is no question your team has Felix's number. "see" ya next month . . .
  17. Congrats, Halo fans ~ you definitely have Angels in the outfield, yowsa! Here's hoping Felix can salvage the split by beating his nemesis tomorrow . . .
  18. They did before last night too. But, yeah, not really expected when you compare the line ups. another interesting nugget . . . Interesting lefty-lefty matchup tomorrow . . . And then there's Felix on Thursday ~ will he finally solve his nemesis?
  19. And, right now, Tom is not. After converting his first eleven chances, he's blown 4 since May 20 (including Bonderman's last start, where he pitched 8 shutout innings and then Tom gave up FIVE in the 9th . . . to the Astros). That pitch to Albert, however, was the first homer he'd given up all season.
  20. At least your guys don't have TEN strikeouts in SIX innings. whodathunk Bonderman vs. Blanton would be a pitcher's duel?
  21. Hansen group ups bid by $75mil (and guarantees the team will be a revenue sharing payer) . . . http://www.sonicsarena.com/news/the-latest-on-bringing-the-nba-back-to-seattle
  22. We actually refer to him as "Safeco Joe" . . . In 3 starts and 22.1 IP at home (vs. HOU, TEX and BAL) he is 2-0 w/a 0.81ERA and a 0.76WHIP sure would be nice if he could take that show on the road
  23. Yep. Tom was drafted by the Brewers in 2002 and suspended in 2004 (after testing positive for pot) and he quit baseball and became a bartender (hence his nickname) for 5 years. He made his comeback with the M's org in 2010 and earned the M's closer role in June last season (when League was sucking) and ended up with 29 saves on the season.
  24. If Kuma (of the 1.69 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 37 K's in 6 starts) is a "scrub" . . . I'd like to see stats on those you consider an ACE
