Angels in 2030 got a reaction from Inside Pitch in Holy Hell, Trevor Bauer!
True a-holes can’t and won’t acknowledge they are an a-hole. Cranky absolutely you are. Which I appreciate because I’m too worried about hurting someone’s feelings or pissing them off to tell them the truth. So I can live vicariously through your posts. Plus you’re self aware so that makes it all ok 👍🏻. Keep up the good fight.

Of all the realistic combinations of 2 SP to add; Bauer and Musgrove is the best IMO

Castellanos, i believe has 3 more years on his contract. If you think Adell sucked in rf, you really wont like Castellanos out there. He would be just another DH to add to the roster. With Marsh possibly being ready by midseason, adding Castellanos makes zero sense.

If Angels get Bauer, it'll be heavily backloaded -- maybe $18-22M this year. The 2nd SP in that scenario would be someone cheap on a trade or a reclamation project ($4-7M range for either). It'd also mean less for RF and C -- maybe Suzuki and some leftover FA OF for a couple million.
But i agree, i think Bauer is NOT happening. I think we get Odorizzi...or a Saguno, Tanaka type. We then make a trade for a guy -- i'd love Musgrove but Gray (& i'm sure others) are possibilities. This might allow a few extra million to spend on one or more of a RF, C, RP

I still like the idea of a Musgrove trade, along with getting Jacob Stallings from the Pirates. Fills 2 holes on the roster.

More likely at the end of Festivus. The airing of grievances and feats of strength must not be interrupted.

Well there's the answer to the other topic question -- Maddon (likely to assume Perry too) thinks we need TWO starters to add to the rotation. Whether one includes Bauer or not is the issue. But either way, they think the answer is two SPs.

Can something please happen? This offseason has been like plucking asshairs from an Armenian.

I'd love for the Angels to get at least one more quality setup-man type bullpen arm. Whether it's Hand, Bradley, Greene, or someone in a similar tier.

Remember last time the Angels grew impatient.....I don't care how long it takes during this off-season, I hope they make moves that improve next season, and many seasons after that.
Perry needs to get it right....I think he is in a bigger pickle than Eppler because Eppler inherited a train wreck allowing him to start wherever...Perry inherits a situation requiring much more precision in his decision making.

Well first off, Detmers and Rodriguez are a nonstarter for me. But Adell in a trade for a #2 SP signed for a few years at a good price -- done. One or more of Adell, Adams, Jackson, Paris, Jones, Knowles, Rameriz, Dev, etc. -- gone for the right guy.
I don't think we need to spend $7M on a RF. That's a waste of resources better spent on the BP.
Bauer + Barria/Sandoval < Odorizzi + Snell/Gray......imho
I'm not against signing Bauer. I used to be solely FA guy and not trade any of the farm. But i'm open to that now and think it might be the better option. Get a cost & year controlled #2 type SP and move Heaney/Canning down a spot -- i'm in.

We need two pitchers:
A top of the rotation and another high quality closer or
Two starters

So you put Barria or Sandoval as the 5th starter behind A Starter You Acquire, Bundy, Heaney, and Canning.
Then one or two starters get hurt, and now you're putting Jose Suarez into the rotation. Do you not see the problem? They need depth because we've seen every year that they get killed when they have no depth. That's why Suarez and Sandoval had to come up before they were ready, and it might have ruined Suarez' development.

That rotation is not good enough, we need a 1st tier pitcher. I've seen how that type of rotation ends up too many times.

Angels in 2030 reacted to BTH in Do the Angels really need to sign or trade for two starting pitchers?
If the Angels sign two starters, the rotation is Starter A, Starter B, Bundy, Heaney, and Canning with Barria in the bullpen. If Ohtani is healthy, then he would be a 6th starter starting once a week.
You are acting if bumping Barria and/or Sandoval out of the rotation is bad thing, but it's actually a great thing, as it gives the Angels more depth.

I agree with the majority here that you need to bring in two starting pitchers. One an ace, whether that's Bauer or a trade for Snell or Darvish. Another via a FA signing like Odorizzi, Walker or Tanaka.

IDK, i think worrying about starts is foolish. Even if everyone miraculously is healthy for the Angels on the rotation, there will still be the issue of Ohtani. Personally, anything he provides in 2021 SP wise is gravy. I'm not relying upon him for any time...let alone major innings. In the best case scenario (healthy + producing top results), he's likely going to be limited on his innings. Not sure how much but i can't imagine anything more 125-150 (on the high end). Especially if we make the playoffs and you want to save him for such. Might be 100 at most.
