Here are the reasons I want to sign him, IN ORDER. 
1. He's a Cy Young caliber pitcher that will pitch for the league minimum of you let him.
2. We just saw his velocity and spin rates all reach career highs in Japan. I am honestly curious if he's still THAT guy. Because if he is, he might be another Verlander or Scherzer, that can pitch into their 40's. So it's curiosity.
3. This goes hand in hand with #1 and 2, but he can help the Angels win.
4. He's actually VERY respected in the clubhouse. It's only outside those doors that he pisses people off. I think he can legitimately make our pitchers, particularly Griffin Canning, much, much better.
5. He seems genuinely repentant of the arrogance of his youth. He deserves another chance.
6. I'd like to stick it to the Dodgers if he does well, which I think he will. 
7. I'd like to see him stick it to everyone that jumped to conclusions about him. This "me too" and "believe all women" movement from the left is absolutely out of control. 
8. It's still innocent until proven guilty. He's been proven innocent.

You may notice, my reasons for wanting him here are firstly baseball related. Everything after that is just icing on the cake.

Ask 4 people who want him and see if 3 want him just because he’s innocent of this situation and not because he will help them win. I think every single fan that wants to sign him believe he will be better than at least one of our starters. They think he will help the team win more games.

lou and cals were on this from the beginning about it being a con run by this chick. a few others, myself included, waited until there was more information provided.

The guy is an asshole. Big deal. Plenty of players we like are assholes, most have just been able to hide it better than him. He’s committed zero crimes other than being an asshole. That’s not really a crime so we’re back to zero. This team as constructed is maybe going to win 75 games if everything breaks right.
 
Screw it. Sign him for cheap and see what he can prove. I’m guessing he’s still better then what we’re throwing out as SP on a regular basis. 
 
Will there be bad press with signing him, yes. Will we get the same bad press when we suck as bad as we will if this is what we actually go to opening day with, yep.

It's not even the innings pitched thing for me, it's the fact that outside of his Cy seasons he is just a guy. 4.00 ERA, 120 IP guy. The odds of us getting a Cy season from him are low, and if we did, it probably would be likeliest in '24 or '25, when it probably wouldn't be enough to get us to the playoffs anyways.

But, yeah, I just get tired of people whining about what the Dodgers did or trying to come up with some way to penalize them for doing something that's 100% acceptable and approved within the current MLB system.

I sincerely believe that the Angels have such a stink on them that any of their players get an angels drag effect on these kinds of rankings.  I think it’s so pervasive that these things are useless for Angels fans. 

I am old enough that you started Little League when you were 6 (no Coach Pitch or Tee Ball)…When I was 6, I was so small they used me to pinch hit because my strike zone was nothing. 12 year old pitcher got mad because he couldn’t throw me a strike so he hit me in the head (no batting helmets)…I never got over it…became a basketball guy that day…

I got hit in the eye at 13 years old in baseball practice.  Our coach’s philosophy is he should hit absolute rockets at us in practice so that balls hit to us in games would seem easy.  I was playing 2B and he hit a bullet at me that was supposed to be a ground ball but it was more of a liner that bounced once about 4-5 feet in front of me and took a bad hop and got me square in the right eye.  It was swollen shut for days and it damaged my eyeball permanently (and now with some age on me, the vision has degraded further, so that sucks).
I never played infield again.  I just couldn’t mentally get comfortable fielding hard hit grounders.  So that was it for IF for me.  To this day, I am not playing IF even in slow pitch softball.  Somebody has to play OF, so let’s just agree I am in the OF.

He's been a sub 1 fWAR player in 4 of the last 5 seasons. 
The only reason to try to frame an argument around "the last three years" is to slant the numbers in such a way as to purposely hide one guy's shit performance and augment the other guy's.
The other thing to remember here is that Votto had played in 482 games over the last 5 years to Rendon's 346 which only serves to mask how much worse Votto has been.  fWAR is a counting stat like HRs or RBI -- the more you play the more you compile.  Despite playing in 136 more games he's managed a total of 4 fWAR over the last 5 years to Rendon's 10.4.  Or if you break it down to fWAR per game Votto comes in at 0.008 fWAR per GP to 0.0300 fWAR for Rendon. 
So yeah... "Last three years" is just more gaslighting BS.
The last two years Rendon has been dogshit and he's still managed to be a positive fWAR player, something that can't be said about Votto. The only thing he's genuinely been better at (staying on the field), has been an actual detriment.
And again -- that's the entire reason for framing the "argument" around "the last three years" instead of the last 2, or 4, or 5 because it's the ONLY way to make it seem like Votto has been anywhere near the player a broken Anthony Rendon has been.
It's comical really. The very real argument and the thing that Rendon needs to prove to people is that he can stay healthy -- something he's not been able to do in three years. Peoples' frustrations with him are 100% warranted. The lack of faith he ever will be may also be.
Completely pointless too.  Angels are stuck with Rendon, Votto, not so much. 
It's funny to see people root against their own best interest because of their own petty BS. If Rendon continues to be injured the only losers will be the Angels because he's going to be paid regardless.
