I think we should temper this opinion against the likely fact that Perry has been  told to try and win now, which would skew what might be a normal, preferred strategy from Minasian. If that is his mandate it will force him to make "uncharacteristic" decisions in support of that.

Detmers was an excellent pick at the time...and looking good now as well.
Maybe you've forgotten: Wilson, Ward, Thaiss.  I think Adams was a huge reach at that spot too.  Adell was probably good value / risk.
I don't recall Newcomb's ranking at draft time, but i recall being happy with the selection.  Then again, i like as much pitching as possible.

Unfortunately, that's NOT been the Angels 1st round drafting MO for what seems like a long while now and across multiple GMs.

I like Braden Montgomery too, but sticking with Hagen Smith still. I know it’s an old bit at this point, but I’d deal Sandoval by no later than next deadline (get either a legit young bat in an one-for-one, a couple decent hitting prospects, or if he’s really rocking, a couple good hitting prospects and a young high-risk/reward pitching prospect) and aim for Hagen replacing him. Pitching is just such a premium.
Maybe a rotation including Detmers, Dana, Smith, Kent by 2026? Paired with a Rada, Trout, Schanuel, Neto, O’Hoppe offense? Maybe one of DeJesus or Scull in outfield, Placencia or Guzman in infield?

I think we should continue our strategy of drafting as many power arms as possible.  If the organization can find a few more players like Caden Dana and Barrett Kent, they could actually trade from an area of strength, as young, controllable pitching is MLB gold these days.
If you have it, you can trade for players that you like, that may make your team a championship caliber team.

Its plain as day that He is being given the Kapernick treatment. It doesnt matter he didnt break the law or the rules. Its been decided by the people in charge that he is a no sign no way and if your team does concider yourself blackballed from future trades and league incintives ect ect. Dude didnt do anything wrong other then be a freaky arrogant non remorsefull prick. Last I checked this is America and that isnt against any laws but dont make you a well liked person. Still say the Angels should sign him. Baseball already dont like Arte much anyways in my opinion.
Would anyone be surprised if he filed a lawsuit against baseball for conspiring against him he seem to like lawsuits ?

The dude is an Angels apologist.  He can't handle any negative comment or judgement against the team.  Anyone who does, he has to constantly go after them.  No objectivity.  Weak individual but that's his choice.

This is an overly broad generalization, but there is definitely a kernel of truth there. I’ve been around on this site for a long time, generally on the periphery. There are definitely users who get very defensive when negative critiques of the Angels are presented. I also agree that some users will go beyond disagreeing on a point, and insult the other person as well, which is unnecessary. A good argument will be able to stand on its own merits.

yea, that’s it.  I am very objective, I just don’t make shit up and that hurts some peoples weak feelings.

I do not think this team has improved over last year’s squad but I don’t think they lose 100 either. I can see 90 losses though.

He should have been in the minors.  Bringing him up last year near the end is a whatever -- give him a taste is fine, i guess.  But dude has always needed to be in the minors and further develop as a hitter before moving onto the majors.  Too much forcing things by this FO.  Microwaving BBQ ribs/pork.

Juan Flores gonna make us forget Edgar Quero.
Also have a good feeling about Randy DeJesus and Anthony Scull.
I haven’t been as engrossed with the farm the last couple of years. It wasn’t that interesting. It was approaching Dipoto-era levels of bad, but this year is already grabbing my attention a lot more.

Angels in 2030 got a reaction from Adam in Metrics for Success first 20 games
This is not a good team.  Not even an average team.  It'll be a bottom 5-10 of the league result.  You know what -- i'm perfectly good with that.  Signing some expensive FAs would not have mattered.  This team needs to go full youth movement (which they appear to be doing) and rebuild with an aim for contending in 2-3+ years.  Build the scouting (US & Int'l) and development departments.  Sell some vets or guys not in the LT plans at the TDL.  Get some good, high draft picks and international signings.  If that's the plan....i'm pretty happy about it and excited for the LT.

Now about that Owner -- GHTFO and sell this team ASAP....and then we'll really be in good shape going forward.
