  1. I wonder who will be the next Angels manager to be fired…err hired.
  2. Railroaded— there’s lot of these girls…lots of them. There’s also dumb athletes and rich guys that are prime for picking. She found the wrong ahole.
  3. it won't matter -- as long as Arte is around unfortunately. Fish rots from the head
  4. knowing the Angels, they will sweep the A's and move into the 8th or 9th spot.
  5. filter that down below the FO organizational chart -- and you start to see why the scouting sucks, prospect development sucks, international sucks, etc., etc.
  6. It’ll be one of LAD, Mariners, SF or SD (in that order).
  7. You act old for your age. Don’t mistake THAT for a compliment.
  8. I'm sure in ST/February we'll be hearing how Rendon is finally injury free, feeling great and in the best shape in a decade.
  9. I feel like you are always there to counter-point any post that has a criticism of the Angels. Always changing the narrative to a potential positive. But not in an optimistic fan-boy way (which would be fine). But in a "i work for the Angels organization" type way. Not that you do obviously. But it comes off that way. Like there is no way to criticize the team/organization at all with you. Let's be real, there's a lot to do so with them. You can be hopeful and supportive of the team, while also acknowledge the failures and problematic issues. Even you have to be able to admit that the lack of any power at all is a concern at this early juncture in his career; and that the majors with a desperate to win team is not an ideal place for such a youngster to immediately jump from a mid-major college to now learn how to hit with a wooden bat, go against the best Ps in the world, etc.
  10. If that's the case, and ultimately it turns out to not be an easy fix/adjustment (e.g., getting used to wooden bats), then it makes the selection of him and full slot payment even more of a questionable decision. I don't care how elite the OBP/eye is for a guy -- he needs to have more elite skills than that to justify. The problem is, he's negative or average (at best) for all other spots. Negative power (especially for the position), defensive negative, speed negative. I love the OBP and patience/eye...but not at the expensive of everything else. Especially at 1B. He has time to adapt and improve. But doing that in the majors is not the ideal place to do so. Worse when it's a team that is so desperate to win. Maybe if it's the A's or some full-on rebuilding team like the O's a few years back. Peculiar management decisions. I hope in the end they end up being on the right side of things here. History hasn't been their friend though.
  11. I thought when he was drafted, all the talk was that he was an OBP & power guy. But it seems it's all OBP and no power whatsoever. Maybe the power comments were misguided (or it was my lack of reading comprehension). at his age, it's not like it's a body development thing that will come as he grows into his body and such. It's just weird that it's completely nonexistent. Hopefully it's a small sample size issue. It sure seems he would have been better off being in the minors longer in order to fully develop and grow his game -- rather than thrown right into the fire. It's a great opportunity sure, but kind of unfair to the guy imo. At least Neto got some run in the minors and proved over a longer period valid results that showed he was ready. Plus, at SS, he's not expected to bring more than good defensive and some spark.
  12. It's pretty shocking the lineup today compared to opening day. Indeed basically a middle of the road (at best) AAA lineup.
  13. That’s delicious. Hopefully the baseball Gods take away all the bad Angel curses and toss into the Ms for this turd muffin.
  14. Thanks for adding in a different stat. I said WAR - which was -.01 and now is worse. But by any metric except walks/obp, he’s going to have to do better to stay LT. Much better power wise to be an elite or top level 1B. He’s young and has time. Probably would have been better served staying in minors to develop a bit more. But the Angels are in a weird place with everything.
  15. Who said the drafts were "bad"? Show me and i'll give you props for that. Stad was fawning over the drafts. My comments, and others, were pumping the brakes on the amazing accolades Strad was pushing simply due to these 5 guys being on the team. Personally, i also commented that with three straight top 1/3rd picks by Perry, I wish we didn't go ALL of them with high floor, early to MLs guys that have low chances at reaching a high ceiling. That's all. But i said i understood going that route due to the win-now circumstances with Ohtani and complete lack of depth within the organization. I'm hoping we don't go 4-for-4 next draft doing the same. that's it. No hyperbole required.
  16. Others answered you already. But i'll repeat them. Touting Schanuel as a 1Bman with a 300 slugging percentage and negative WAR -- nice gymnastics. Joyce has a near 3 WHIP and surgery -- even if he makes it back and does well, he's a RP (start the parade smh). Bachman -- another failed SP who needs to fight the injuries in hopes of becoming a RP (amazing pick). Detmers is an unknown -- big highs and big lows. There's potential for a valuable starter there but when will it happen and with the consistency that is needed. If by "performing" you simply mean they are on the field for this team -- ok, you got me. But there is a big difference from being out on the field "performing" versus actually "producing". I think you're just trying too hard. Sure, depth and replacement level guys are needed -- especially when you have some elite high-priced players. Unfortunately, some of those high-priced Angels are not "performing" (see what i did there) and/or can't stay healthy. What this team and organization needs is some elite, exciting young difference makers. Actually, they need pretty much everything. But when you are drafting early in the 1st round, you should be aiming for and drafting/developing potential elite guys. Not RPs, backend SP and 0 WAR 1B with no slugging.
