Maybe he wants a shorter deal, maybe he doesn’t, or maybe he doesn’t want them at all.
In order for the Angels to get one, Snell/Monty are gonna have to want a deal that Arte’s comfortable with AND the Angels will have to have the best offer among other teams (perhaps by a decent margin).

Wash probably wouldn’t throw him under the bus for the real reason. Obviously, they chose to release Mejía out of any other veteran catcher they could’ve released (Wallach or Hamilton), so there’s gotta be more to it.

OK, but you don’t have a feeling that the Yankees will outbid the Angels for Burnes?
My point is a “plan” to wait and sign Burnes is only a viable plan if you are prepared to substantially outbid everybody else.
I feel like you chase players that can help you and strike when you have an opportunity to land them.
The worst outcome is to “pass” on players this year and then miss out on the player or players you waited a year to pursue.

if you sign snell this year, then next year you can go to burnes and show him you're committed to winning, and by having both him and snell at the top of the rotation, they'll be a formidable 1-2 punch. 
at least that's how i'd do it.
if it costs me one draft pick but i get both of those pitchers, i'm all in.

The logical part of my brain says it made no sense to give up a pick for a guy who may opt out in a year.
But 3/$80M is so much lower than his original projections that I feel like the Angels could’ve worked something out that got them more than 1 year of Bellinger without long-term risk.

I saw him driving east on 10 fwy on Friday past Palm Springs. 

I’d be interested to know what spot Trout/Rendon prefer to hit in.
I think making players comfortable is the most important part of lineup order.
Like Neto said he prefers to hit 9th, and Wash is gonna bat him 9th.

I thought his defense was pretty good at 2B last season.
DRS had him at -1, but OAA had him at +4.

My hot take (if it’s considered one) is that Adell will outperform Moniak this season.

Well, they’re trying to create a first class experience there.

When Scott Harris took over as the Detroit Tigers' president of baseball operations exactly 17 months ago, he went on a fact-finding mission.
He met with every player, wanting to find out how the franchise could do a better job of supporting them, and he ended up doing far more listening than talking. The feedback from players convinced him that changes were needed.
So, Harris took a proposal to Christopher Ilitch, who made it happen.
Ilitch, the chairman and CEO of the Tigers, made a presentation to the team on Tuesday morning in the clubhouse before the second day of full-squad workouts in spring training, unveiling some of the improvements that have been made throughout the organization, including changes at Comerica Park.
"It's pretty cool what he did," catcher Jake Rogers said. "He did a lot more than we expected. He really listened, which is pretty cool from an owner. To have meetings with Scott Harris and listen to him and be like, 'Hey, look, this is what the guys are saying.' And he didn't have to do any of it. It's changes to literally everything."
The changes range from a new plane to transforming the old weight room into a performance center with cardio machines, weight machines and much more. There's a new meeting room, too.
A new kitchen and clubhouse renovations were unveiled to the players in last year's spring training and completed before the beginning of last season.
This year, there are even new showers.

Well, I was more talking about how he doesn't care if he has a lack of power from his clean up hitter.

My big gripe is that Texas and Houston should be in the Central because that’d put 2 big spenders in the Central, which traditionally doesn’t have big spenders.
Like the big spenders should be dispersed:
West: LA x2, SF.
Central: Texas, Houston, Chicago.
East: New York x2, Boston, Philly .

And that's with pretty optimistic projections for the top 9 as far as PA are concerned.
