Finals for the Lakers! It was a joy watching The Joker and Murray play though. What happened with the Angels game? Google says it's in a delay.

I love this game and this team. I've been an Angel fan since December 1960. Many up and downs, many seasons of below 500 baseball. Have not missed many games and used to listen to games on 710 am radio KMPC. Last night I was frustrated with outcome and season. Tonight I'm watching game hoping they beat the hated Dodgers. Watching young kids play Adell, Jam Jones. Ward and of course Jared Walsh, what a great story he has been. Looking forward to off season and spring training. Life goes by quickly hopefully I will see halos win a title again someday. How about Soto 10 years in minors and got his first big league hit. Jo Adell I truly believe will be a very special player. I remember so many conversations with my dad, my son friends about this game. Going to games with family and friends walking into the stadium, standing in line for a beer. I cherish those moments I had with this game and team. I was at game 5 in 1986 playoff game with Red Sox, did not go to game in 1987 after halos lose in that series. This game will break your heart but what a great feeling when Angels have a walk off.

If none of these players produce any better at any level than they have so far, if in 10 years from now you looked back at these selections, would you still say that the picks were successful?

Long term? No. But in 2021? Yes.

And unless decide they are giving up on 2021, they can’t get rid of those guys without replacing them with guys who can be as good in 2021.

At SS I would take the defensive wizard.   And Renifro has never shown the ability with the bat than Simmons.  Therefore the issue is mute.

Yeah.  Ideally, I'd like to go all-in on Bauer, but the rest of the growth should come internally.  Barria, Canning, Ohtani, Sandoval, Suarez, Detmers, Rodriguez, etc ..
There are a lot of interesting arms, and our pitching depth actually looks pretty decent, on the condition we add a significant SP to the current rotation.  Great teams like the Dodgers are literally stashing pitchers like May and Gonsolin in AAA until they have injuries, then they come up, dominate, and become part of the rotation indefinitely.  For us, we are basically trying to rush guys (like Detmers, Adell this year, etc) to fill holes quickly.
For now though, let the kids develop and take their time.  Plug up our SP hole with a FA, fill out the rotation, but let the kids learn the instruction they need in the minors, so that when they are truly ready, they can be promoted and fill out the rotation seamlessly.

Yeah, the one benefit of the early draft is near to ready MLB pitchers, while the Angels were trying to steal every position player, it's finally starting to show up in the field but not nearly as much on the mound.  Bauer will not fix this team or put us over the top, it's going to have to be a team effort, no FA signing will do it tbh.
Show Arte that huge FA signings are for desperate losers.  Only sign players who have earned their keep.

Are you really asking how many of them are still the GM of the Angels?   Are you trying to make a point?  What if anything does that have to do with you making the statement that he's "lost" four GMs?   Less hyperbole more facts, the conversation will be more constructive.
Despite your claims, he's had ONE "walk away" in 17 seasons... and that came after that GM tried to pull a power play and HE lost the clubhouse -- that's the reality.
I get your point man, it's a bad look but turnover in MLB at the executive position isn't exactly uncommon.  The Red Sox have had four GMs since 2012 when the Angels brought in Dipoto -- so have the Braves.   The Dodgers despite all their success have had two different GMs, three if you want to count Friedman who is the VP of baseball ops and acting GM as a third.   The Mets might be making their third switch in four years now that there is new ownership entering.   Those are the ones off the top of my head.   But the Dbacks have had some turnover there too.
Rizzo, Beane, Daniels, Cashman.    It's pretty impressive how long those guys have managed to hold their jobs.  Props to them.
I think the reason it looks so ugly is they haven't been winning -- unlike the Red Sox and Braves for instance.   Winning tends to make all those things seem less ugly.

There’s no reason to not sign a 4th outfielder type.   They aren’t expensive and it wouldn’t be a big deal to release them once Adell proves he belongs.  A major league team needs three catchers, two up with the big club and a third guy stowed away at AAA in case of injury, the Angels have two.  If Bemboom is out of options then sign a catcher that has major league experience but is mostly a AAAA type of player.
I actually liked what I saw out of Rengifo last year, and it’s tough to judge any player who’s struggled this year.  So if we start next year with Rengifo that wouldn’t be the worst thing.

Maddon has assembled a solid coaching staff that is already paying dividends, albeit still having a few pitching staff spots to fill.

Im really struggling to agree with this.
When the bullpan fails as often as it does, and he doesnt have any other options, how is it fair to put it on him?
Weve build the bullpen for years now with clean peanuts and castoffs expecting them to somehow be more than they were.
WE wanted Maddon for reasons, what suddenly hes an idiot?

I'd be cool with Richards, but on something more of a 2/10 contract.
If he struggles as a SP, then he could become a high-leverage reliever, which would still make a 2/10 deal worthwhile.
In an ideal offseason, I'd sign both Bauer and Richards, and perhaps a modest deal for a backup catcher (which would put Bemboom in AAA and give us decent catching depth).
I've said it in other posts, but realistically, we need 8-9 SPs to cover the course of a full season, given likely injuries and whatnot.  Having Bauer, Bundy, Heaney, Barria, Canning, Richards, Ohtani*, Sandoval, and Suarez gives us 9 SPs, and that should be enough to navigate through a season.
