  1. Thanks, Dave! Obviously if we were getting something stellar in a trade and I really thought it would help us win, I'd manage to survive
  2. mancini79, Angels_Baseball, Glen Thanks, I think having fun every once in a great while is a good idea Angelsunky - I'd love to keep Bourjos too (In a perfect world I'd give back Pujols and Hamilton and keep both Trumbo and Bourjos). Splint7438 - I'd like to see more focus on player development too. Mudville - I think Splint7438 meant players we've given up on / traded ended up helping the Red Sox this year, not that they use home grown players (I could be reading that wrong!)...The Sox this year were kind of a weird team, and coming off the last few years of llama drama they've been involved in...they're not really a model for team building. It will be interesting to see how their organization develops from here on out, though.
  3. Mike pointed that out to me on Twitter today! I was surprised to find it was so close to his actual weight in gold
  4. For those of you waiting for serious, in depth analysis from me, it's just not the kind of writing I do for AngelsWIn and that has nothing whatsoever to do with gender and more with my writing style. Plus, the writers who do those posts here are epic and don't need any help. I have a good time writing fun, observational columns. If you guys don't want to read that kind of a column, then don't. However, if you like taking a break from stats and analysis every once in a while I hope you'll continue to read and comment on my posts. As always, thanks to Chuck and Geoff for having me!
  5. Thanks! I use that analogy enough in real life that I thought it would be fun to see what it really came out to be.
  6. Okay everyone, settle down. I can take critique, and I take it from actual critics as part of my day job. I do think it's kind of lame to get called a "chick" just because I wrote a post with "girl" in the title, but you know, whatever floats your boats. The post is intended to be fun and lighthearted. Am I aiming to provide you with some baseball knowledge you were heretofore unaware of? No. However, I disagree that run production isn't a valid reason to keep a player, especially as that is the very reason we are hoping another team will trade quality pitching for, right? You can't have it both ways, either he's a valuable trade or he isn't. I also disagree that the post says the only reason to keep him is home runs. Pretty sure the main thrust of the post was point three which deals with the concepts of public relations and specifically, home town public relations. I'm also using fangirl is a very specific sense, one that's used more commonly in geek or sci-fi fan communities. I don't necessarily mean cleat-chasers or women throwing themselves at Napoli as he stumbles around Boston drunk as a skunk. and @HalosofAnaheim, I welcome your criticism and would have probably been fine with "sophmoric and non-logic based piece." I'd just tell you to lighten the hell up, we can actually (occasioanlly) have fun as fans.
  7. Hollyw00d, personally I prefer teams that rely on well executed small ball, but don't let me get in the way of your broad brush.
  8. Scotty, as much as I like both Kendrick and Bourjos (and my 5 year old doing the Peanut Butter Jelly dance every time he gets a hit), I think this scenario makes the most sense. I'd like to see both Green and Calhoun in the line up. Chuck, yes he is. The beard doesn't help.
  9. Scotty, I have to admit a drunken one night stand with Napoli never crossed my mind, but we all have different types I suppose I was unhappy with the trade though...and he has been to the World Series twice since, so I don't think we got the better end of that deal. However, I think your back up plan is solid. Mudville, in my experience, only guys with small bats care.
  10. I agree that part of the reason for the CA stuff being marketable is that it's "different." But I do think from a markting perspective it has broader appeal than either LA or Anaheim. That's just me though
  11. Thanks everyone for the nice words! I kind of like Pacific Angels...
  12. I think in my heart of hearts I would want to be the CA Angels again the most. I feel the series win as Anaheim is what tips the scales for me. I'd be happy with either, but the CA logos are hot
  13. Thanks, Dave! My dad is of the same opinion - he wants more emotion from Sosh.
  14. I completely disagree. I think there's a lot of talent out there - you can argue lack of depth in the bullpen obviously, but overall I don't think that is the biggest problem. On paper most of these guys look great. The main problem is they aren't functioning together as a unit at all. There's a complete disconnect - the questions are where, and why, and how to fix it?
  15. This is why I didn't got with CA Dreamin' as my pick...though living in MT I _FEEL_ the lyrics of this song about 7 months out of the year There's actually a lot of good choices, I'm just kind of a big Beach Boys geek ... and Carl Wilson's voice on the lead in Good Vibrations is amazing...anything Carl sang was awesome
  16. I agree there are serious issues with the team, but I see the rage against this song every day on Twitter and can't help but think that making fans this mad over a song isn't the best business model
  17. Thanks! I thought of the song too - the problem with all the good titles is somewhere they've been used before
