According to Strad, the "Rendon hates baseball" thing is a myth.

Yea you see me a mile away.  If he’s hurt like you said, then I’d say he’s hurt. And somehow that is the wrong answer. Let me guess if he’s injured in June I’m supposed to say he’s a lazy, piece of shit that’s stealing money?  

Pretty much every notable free agent is getting way more than their mlbTR projections. Bellinger Snell and Hader will get their money somewhere.

Also I don’t think a healthy Rendon means jack shit.  He played like shit and has a noodle bat now.  Until proven otherwise he’s washed garbage.

Dodgers have the means to go get pitching, but as of right now, they have no pitching.  The Angels rotation has less question marks right now than the Dodgers.  Don’t read this as the Angels are going to be better than the Dodgers, but today, the Angels rotation going into next year, is better than the Dodgers.  I am sure the Dodgers will address this, but as of now they don’t have any starting pitching.

Ohtani has arm fatigue- doesn’t get it checked, even when the team offered to have it done.
Ohtani tears his ACL- won’t talk about it, won’t shut it down to get surgery, but instead, keeps swinging.
Ohtani doesn’t participate in team photo- walks off the field, still won’t talk about it and sends his agent to do it for him.
Ohtani hurts his oblique- leaves Nevin and the team hanging on whether he will play every day. Chooses not to.
Ohtani clears out his locker after a loss-  possibly bailing on his teammates, who for better or worse, did what they were capable of. Bailed on the fans who have cheered for him for years. Bailed on an owner, GM, and manager who bent over backwards to make him happy.
Hot take, it kind of sounds like Ohtani is being a dick.
 

What does Rendon being a fucking child have to do with Sam Blum reporting him acting like fucking baby? 

It was a bad look to waive all those players, but the upside was that you could get under the luxury tax and gain those benefits.
But since they didn’t get under the luxury tax, the benefits are lost and you are stuck with the bad look of waiving all those players.
Now, I’m worried that the team will have more trouble attracting players. AND, they have to pay a higher tax in the future + they get a worse pick if Ohtani walks.
It’s the worst of both worlds.

I’m comparing how they would’ve been viewed if they waived those guys vs. if they hadn’t waived those guys.
I’m not comparing if they waived those guys vs. being sellers or putting Stassi on the RL.
Because, yeah, selling or putting Stassi on the RL is a worse look than waiving those guys.

I think you’re over estimating the downside to this move. 
 
I think a lot more players would have looked negatively on the Angels if they’d been sellers when 3 games out or if they’d put Max Stassi on the restricted list (which literally takes money from him, as opposed to having guys keep their money and change teams)
