he has a full no-trade for the first 4 years of his contract, then it becomes limited to 12 teams.

this is year #3 if his 6-year deal.

Going off this from Monday, but the full no trade directly after the opt-in wouldn’t surprise me at all.

There was a report the other day saying Yu would not accept a trade anywhere, but I'm unclear on his no-trade clause. Some sources say it's a 12-teamer; others claim it's a full NTC. We're looking into it.

Kluber and Keuchel would be great IMO. I think Keuchel would succeed here being that he's a GB pitcher.

I'd offer him 2/30 with an option for a 3rd year.

Now you don’t think Kluber will cost both Adell and Marsh like you did a few days back?

Except none of those guys has a high price tag which means they aren’t coming cheap as it relates to prospects. If you want to get talent for a decent prospect cost you have to take on Darvish, Chatwood or Heyward.

Of course. Schwarber is the only one they seem motivated to move of the three. I’m imagining Fletcher/Goodwin as part of a larger deal involving prospects.

Personally, i would love to see the Cubs blockbuster happen, but in a way that adds more than just Contreras and an arm, and/or  id like to see them take a flyer on Lindblom.

I think its highly feasible we could get Contreras, one of Darvish/Chatwood, and possibly Bryant for the right package that still wouldn't have to include Adell.

If we did that were set for the next few years and probably all of them post season appearances.

I realize im shooting high here, i think thats what we should be doing in the age of Trout.

Contreras/Schwarber/Happ feels possible to me for some reason.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this allowed? Isn't the signing deadline before football season?

I had assumed the same as well. Perhaps it's more a handshake agreement with the possibility he could still bolt for the NFL if he has a Heisman type of season this year. Shades of what the Celtics did when drafting Larry Bird back in the day?

Did Dipeutered take over as A'th GM?     Murray wasn't even slated for the first round?

He's a first round talent, teams were just scared off as he will be starting QB at Oklahoma this year. Seems the A's and Murray have an agreement to let him play college football this fall and join the A's afterwards.

Is that what they are doing? What is the goal?

They want to get their starter deeper into the game. It also lets you put one of your better relievers in the game off the bat against the top three of the opposing team, which would presumably give the starter easier competition to allow him to get settled in.

  8. Cowart just has a built-in natural gift for being a superb defender. If he could hit a lick in the majors he would be considered one of the premier defenders in the league. I still think the Angels should just have him spend an off-season getting reps at both outfield corners and every spot in the infield. He is athletically gifted enough to do it and it allows him to provide tremendous value with his versatility even if the bat never comes along which is how it's looking at this moment.
