This made me way happier than it should. "The one ray of hope we have is that our favorite team is REALLY dumb!" Maybe it's because I just read the latest comments in the thread about @Lou and I realize that none of this really matters. Or maybe it's just hard for me to care about the team like I used to. But your comment brought a smile to my face when it probably should not have.

Remembering an AngelsWin.com Legend - Lou (IEBRUIN)
Justin replied to Chuck's topic in The Official Hangout Forum
@Lou, over the last 14 years you have made me laugh more than everyone else. Combined. We will see another 10 Mike Trouts before we see another Ohtani and we will see a million new AW members before we see another @Lou. - Justin -
His emergence made it possible for the Angels to release Pujols a few months early and I never again had to watch a GIDP where Albert hadn't even gotten halfway to first by the time the play was over. If for no other reason, I will always like Walsh.

Gameday Thread (5/29/23): Angels @ White Sox - Canning on the mound

I had forgotten about this exchange. It's still a classic. I had not forgotten about you, Lou. -
SI: Angels take Shohei Ohtani off trade market, will buy

The same way Arte was going to sell the team? -
Then sign a new contract.

Hell yes.

This might be the only thing you've ever written with which I vehemently disagree. "Even if it crushes the org"??? I want the organization to start winning again. We're gonna see 5 MVPs in 10 seasons and not a single postseason win to show for it. Those MVP awards mean nothing to me. There is no player who is more entertaining than winning.

If the Angels decide to trade Ohtani, he should have no say in where he goes.

Honestly? Have a nice rest of the summer. Life is too short to spend time on a hobby that no longer brings you joy. And there is nothing enjoyable about this organization at the moment.

All they need to do is play .667 baseball....

I moved out of SoCal in 2018 and had forgotten about him. Until now. -

The Official Hypothetical Ohtani Trade Thread
Justin replied to Stradling's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
I have several reasons why I would like the Angels to trade Ohtani. And a couple of reasons why I don't want them to. "What's that telling Mike Trout" is not one of them. -
Gameday Thread: Angels @ Dodgers (July 8th, 2023)

It is many things, but it is not that. -
I would be shocked if Perry were fired.

I have changed my vote.

Would any team in baseball take on Trout's contract?

Or if we could get Puig in return. -
That's my #1. That team was arguably the best in baseball for several stretches, including the end. They really could have done damage in October. But for other stretches, including the first month, they were one of the very worst teams in baseball, and it cost them the postseason. So many awful memories from that season: - The 6-14 start. - Pujols not hitting a homer for his first 110 at-bats of the season, the longest stretch of his career. - The Rays failing to have a single baserunner in their previous game against Seattle (King Felix's perfect game) and then coming to Anaheim and sweeping four games, including the Angels blowing an 8-0 lead the night they honored the 2002 team in a 10th anniversary celebration - the largest blown home lead in their history. - Blowing a one-run lead in the 9th and then a three-run lead in the 10th against Texas on August 1st. (The game where Scioscia decided not to pinch-run Bourjos for Morales and Kendrys got thrown out at the plate in the top of the 9th.) - Miggy winning MVP over Trout when Trout had 10.5 bWAR to Miggy's 7.1, and the two main arguments being that Miggy won the Triple Crown and the Tigers made the playoffs... even though the Angels had a better record. Other seasons have been more disappointing, but when I think of the word "frustrating," 2012 will probably always be #1 for me.

Not even Top 10 for me.

This is the best Angels team in several years. Do I think they should have a few more wins than they do? Definitely. But I bet even Rays and Braves fans are saying that about their team. It's July and my favorite team has a winning record. If I couldn't appreciate that, I would stop following baseball. Also, I was an Angels fan before Ohtani and I will be one after Ohtani, whether that is 12 weeks from now or 12 years.

The same reason they didn't sign Tyler Anderson after he literally had an All-Star season for them: They don't see him helping them win in the future.
