GA16 reacted to AngelStew43 in Angels sign Robert Stephenson (3 years, $33 million), DFA Rivas
We don't sign anyone, and people complain. We sign someone, and people complain.
One of the areas we needed help with was the bullpen. Now, with Estevez and Stephenson, the bullpen is a lot better.
We now have a good young core of position players, a good group of young starters, and an improved bullpen.
This team is better than some of you think.

GA16 reacted to Stradling in Angels sign Robert Stephenson (3 years, $33 million), DFA Rivas
Ok. So we probably should sit out the draft as well because of Brandon Wood.

I find it hilarious we signed one of the best relievers on the market and still everyone is a total twat about it. Well done Angel fans.

GA16 reacted to Ochocinco! in Feinsand: Angels are “very interested” in Blake Snell
I know everyone sh*t’s on Snell for not going deep into games but who tf does in todays game outside of a handful of guys. Not counting the Covid year this guy has thrown the following amount of innings
180
107
128
128
180
All while sporting a career 3.2 era. Yes he has his “bad” years where at WORST he’s a 4.2 era pitcher (just using era as a simple metric for the moment). This team has been dying for that kind of production outside of Ohtani the last 5.. sh*t, 10 years!
It’s clear we need to have a strong bullpen around guys like Snell, Sandoval, Detmers who don’t tend to go deep into games. So Perry has to keep beefing the bullpen up, but if Snell is our first “big” move post Ohtani then I’ll be happy with it. However Snell can simply NOT be the only pitching move we make the rest of the off-season.

GA16 reacted to mmc in Angels trade David Fletcher and Max Stassi to the Braves for Evan White and Tyler Thomas
Garbage for cheaper garbage is foolish?

GA16 reacted to Dtwncbad in Angels trade David Fletcher and Max Stassi to the Braves for Evan White and Tyler Thomas
Fletcher sucks and Stassi didn’t play an inning last year. I don’t really care what they got for them I know I didn’t lose anything.

When the hell did David Fletcher become serviceable?
this is a nothing trade

GA16 reacted to Jeff Fletcher in Manager / GM Candidates
It pains me that you’re quoting my story but instead of quoting my story (which is published on here for free), you’re using the link of the clowns who steal all of my stories.

GA16 reacted to jsnpritchett in Silseth's rehab start didn't go so well
I am 100% ok with them losing every remaining game since it'll improve their draft order. I might be in the minority here, but to me, there's no real difference between 72-90, 74-88, 76-86, etc. It's all the same: you missed the playoffs and had a losing record.

GA16 reacted to UndertheHalo in Ohtani has cleared out his locker
It’s funny that some of us are saying this is rock bottom and that’s like the 10th time we’ve heard that this year.

GA16 reacted to Sully151 in Ohtani has cleared out his locker
Ohtani has arm fatigue- doesn’t get it checked, even when the team offered to have it done.
Ohtani tears his ACL- won’t talk about it, won’t shut it down to get surgery, but instead, keeps swinging.
Ohtani doesn’t participate in team photo- walks off the field, still won’t talk about it and sends his agent to do it for him.
Ohtani hurts his oblique- leaves Nevin and the team hanging on whether he will play every day. Chooses not to.
Ohtani clears out his locker after a loss- possibly bailing on his teammates, who for better or worse, did what they were capable of. Bailed on the fans who have cheered for him for years. Bailed on an owner, GM, and manager who bent over backwards to make him happy.
Hot take, it kind of sounds like Ohtani is being a dick.

GA16 reacted to Angels 1961 in Angels sign Brandon Drury (2 years, $17 million), DFA Oliver Ortega
Here it is Drury has played lot of OF. So, Taylor Ward for Pablo Lopez.

GA16 reacted to Docwaukee in Angels sign Brandon Drury (2 years, $17 million), DFA Oliver Ortega
I'd have preferred Profar but I love the mentality. Just hope he doesn't become the 2019 version. Even if he does, he's better than the the likelihood of significantly sub replacement production we'd be looking at without him.
The number everyone should focus on is 2,571.
That's the number of plate appearances for players with ZERO war or worse on the angels last year.
The other number is -7.0
That the total WAR of those players.
It might seem like redundancy and it might seem like there's not enough AB to go around but if Urshela and Renfroe and Drury get 724 PA's each (the most in the majors last year from Marcus Semian), there would still be 400 additional plate appearances left. So in real terms, those three getting about 502 PA (minimum for a qualified hitter) leaves over 1000 still for someone else. Granted, a hefty chunk of those are from C but even conservatively it's at least enough for one more player to get the min. qualified.
Who do you want filling those 500 additional plate appearances? Soto? Adell? Moniak? Thaiss? Wallach? Mike Stefanic? Jordyn Adams? Andrew Velazquez? Jared Oliva? Ryan Aguilar? Aaron Whitfield? Jeremiah Jackson? Riley Unroe? Orlando Martinez? Bryce Teodosio?
Because that's about the list of next up.
So I can make a very strong argument that they shouldn't be done adding position players and I would very much like to see a legit 4th OFer.

Maybe Taylor Ward could be traded

GA16 reacted to jsnpritchett in OC Register: Farm Failures: How the Angels’ player development system broke and the plan to repair it
Great article. I hope the Register continues to do more of this in-depth style of reporting and analysis.

GA16 reacted to Jeff Fletcher in Angels acquire Gio Urshela from the Twins for Alejandro Hidalgo (DFA Diaz)
I’d love to have something to report but the circle of people who are in the loop on that is pretty small. I’ve been asking but no one is talking.

GA16 got a reaction from TroutField in Moreno Family Exploring Sale of the Los Angeles Angels
Very excited for this news and the possibilities. However, should we be concerned about how this could potentially effect the off season?
Will the sale happen quickly enough to where we can have a no restrictions free agency?
Or will this impede Perry from having the type of off season we need?
It took the Mets about a year to sell. The Nats announced their intent to sell this April and its now August. Hope we get resolution sooner than those timelines.

GA16 reacted to Docwaukee in Angels select SS Zach Neto 13th overall in the 1st round of the 2022 MLB Draft
you're being ridiculous. and talking out of your rear as if you know. You're awesome man but you gotta slow your roll sometimes. Half the kids in the draft came out of HS where they played against guys who could barely tie their shoes. And a huge chunk of guys who end up amazing players got signed at the age of 16 as intl prospects. The guys destroyed his competition and has cred from the cape cod league. He was pretty much a consensus top halfish first rounder.
BTW, who did you want? A guy who dropped to 13 because of injury issues or some high floor college starter with MOTR upside? They obviously spent a lot of time looking at this kid. And personally, I appreciate the risk. I didn't do enough research to make any sort of disparaging comments, and even if I did, I'm still just some message board poster.
Anyone who projects this guy to be a bust probably has about a 70% chance of being right.
Here's something I really like about this guy. He's a friggin baseball player. (unlike guys like Adams, Marsh and Adell when they first started). He's got big upside and his performance isn't theoretical even if vs. lesser than the best of competition.
I would challenge you with one thing if you're going to make these types of comments. Go back and look at the top 5 or even 10 or so college position players and where they played. Which one excelled and which failed. Where they came from and where they are now. I don't have the answer, but my guess is that it's all over the map and there are plenty of examples of successes and failures in either direction.

GA16 reacted to AngelsLakersFan in Angels acquire Touki Toussaint for cash considerations, DFA Jack Mayfield
Angels betting that they can take a talented but raw arm and turn him into something useful for the first time in their history.

GA16 reacted to Swordsman78 in Angels-Mariners brawl suspensions announced: 10 games for Nevin, 5 for Rendon and Chiti, 3 for Wantz and Tepera, 2 for Iglesias + more
Don't play dumb. No one ever got suspended for hitting Trout (which was your qualifier). MLB needs to do more to protect their stars. Like the NFL does for QB's
