  1. At least we won't have Max Stassi as a starting catcher
  2. Sign Robinson Chirinos for 2 years, and trade young OF prospects like Deveaux or Ramirez for Matt Boyd
  3. Wish the best of luck for Kole. I'll always remember him as an Angel
  4. you're right I didn't see 25's vesting option, which is very unlikely to occur
  5. I was talking about Sale's contract, not Price's
  6. Just curious. Is there anyway Angels can trade for Maeda Kenta? He's not great but decent guy under very team friendly contract. He's also super durable. Never injured moving from rotation to pen every season. I know with his long, team-favored contract, Doyers have no reason to trade him away, though Maeda has openly shown frustration of being moved to the pen several times and Dave Roberts seems like he doesnt like Maeda too much due to inability of pitching deep into the game. He often falls apart when he goes 6+ innings but he is usually superb for first 6 innings and he doesnt get injured so I think he could be a major upgrade for Angels rotation. Anyone think he will be available for trade somehow? or no?
  7. Chokeshaw, deGrom, Sale. i dont think first 2 are available but they are ace caliber guys with huge contract left. Sale, if Loston decides to trade Price, betts, and even Benintendi like rumors say, might be available especially when he started showing health issues and there are about 6-7 yrs left in his contract. Problem is, Angels wouldnt want him either since there are too many yrs left and he's showing red flag now
  8. if it's minor or split contract, i'll give him a go. if he bounces back we get a fine starter, if he gets wrecked again, just dump him. no big deal but no thanks to the nightmare Harvey. just giving him the ball for 1 game is too much of a waste
  9. I'm against signing Ryu for 4+ yrs and I think Ryu pitching in Dodger stadium in NLW and Ryu in Rogers Centre in ALE will be totally different. I preferred Keuchel over Ryu for health issue + Keuchel was likely to demand lower salary and shorter contract term (which turned out to be true) but they missed out on Keuchel and now Ryu is also gone. There is literally no front end starter left in the market. idk what kind of trade Eppler is working on but getting a front line starter without giving up Adell and Canning will be very tough
  10. so before off season began, Eppler said starting pitching is the team's priority and Arte said he is willing to go over the cap to improve the team and somehow Julio Teheran is the biggest FA starter acquisition this team got. What a fkin epic market lol Now Eppler will try to convince Arte about how Ohtani-Teheran-Bundy-Heaney-Canning and bunch of minor leaguers are "strong group" that's capable of being front line pitchers.
  11. If he pulls off a trade to land an ace caliber pitcher without giving up Adell and Canning, I'd say it's an A off season. If he signs Ryu for less than 3 years (without overpaying of course) or trades for #2,#3 pitcher, maybe B. If he starts the season with current starting rotation, it is an F cuz Arte and Eppler was well aware of this team's problems in starting rotation and said they will invest to improve it and all they got are Bundy and Teheran.
  12. Yup after front end starter, next priority should be MLB level catcher. 2 of them. 1 starter and 1 cheap minimum back up (like Kevan Smith 2019). Stassi and Bemboom shouldnt be on opening roster after the season they had in 2019.
  13. If Epp honestly believes this rotation is a strong group, he is delusional and Angels will have another season with no PS appearsnce. This team lacks front end starters period. Ohtani is in doubt coming back from TJS. assuming he still has the same stuff, he is decent #2or#3 but he pitches only once a week so the team needs 5 more starters. Teheran is #3 at best or #4 in most of PS caliber teams. Heaney and Teheran can be #3 & #4 although I doubt if Heaney will still be pitching by AS break. Bundy is durable but sure back end rotation guy and him and Canning will be 5th and 6th starters. So we still need at least 2 starters. Ace, and another middle of rotation guy since Ohtani, Canning are young and coming back from injuries and Heaney is always injured so over the season, we'll have at least one of them out of rotation. (I mean, Ohtani might be out of rotation at the beginning of season to begin with) Suarez and Peters arent regular rotation pitchers at this point. Not even close. They need more time and prove they can keep their ERAs down in 3s and 4s and pitch 6+ innings in Majors before being trusted.
  14. so it seems more and more like we're gonna end up with garbage rotation to start the season again "hoping" that some of them somehow stay healthy or outperform everybody's expectations, which will not happen.
  15. I like this move. Very durable arm, turning 29 and has strong motivation to perform well for long term contract next summer, almost guaranteed 30+ starts, 180 innings, high 3s to mid 4s ERA. He ain't anything like an ace but you aren't getting an ace with 9M/1yr deal anyways, so this move has low risk and decent return for the Angels.
  16. If Angels offer $20M+ for Ryu, they better insert a lot of options in his contract. If they aren't putting options and guaranteeing most of money in contract, they better make it less than 3 years. 4+ years mostly guaranteed for Ryu will be disaster for this team sooner or later. His injury history with 32 year old of age makes it impossible to believe that he will be healthy years to come
