Garbage medical staff and this being the Angels, not shock one bit. Also is owned by an idiot owner who doesn't give a rats about the players/fans.
-
Angels have a trash medical staff. What's new?
-
Angels definitely have had a hard time against the Athletics. If I remember correctly, they have played four series this season. They've lost three of those series and split the one in Oakland with two wins. Trout has had great numbers against the A's. They might have won a couple of those series if he was playing.

If Ohtani was pitching tonight, Judge wouldn’t be in the lineup. Scared of Ohtani. Weak.

it's crazy how quickly the skills can erode in mlb. not that long ago eaton was an extremely valuable starter.
Angels have tried to revitalize washed up players, like Eaton, Harvey, Lincecum, and Quintana, over the years and it doesn't work. It's a gamble. If it works, great! If it doesn't, oh well.

Heaney's career ERA in MLB is quickly approaching 5.00. LOL
-
How did this bum Heaney even put up a 3.49 ERA in 2015? Trout saving this chump? Baseballs weren't juiced? Both are true.
-
He's a me-me player. Was too ignorant to have a different approach at the plate once teams started shifting on him. Just another garbage player who suited up for the Angels and was a big reason why the Trout era was wasted in the 2010s.

Garbage with a home run in a low leverage situation with no pressure. Surprise?
-
Dodgers still can't take advantage of the Giants losing and somehow loses to a team with a bunch of scrubs. And Pujols stinks up the joint, nice! But the Athletics won, so still have more work to do.
-
Once again, not a shock. MLB is a business and when there is money at stake, there will be people who will try to take advantage of getting good money by cheating. Look at Bonds (after 1998), Clemens (after 1997), the steroid boys in Boston (Manny and Ortiz), and Bauer (deserves to go to prison). Laureano won't be the last.

I know this board gives Maddon shit for things like this, but this is precisely why I like him. We all bitched about Scioscia’s stubbornness and inability to think outside the box. Maddon is the opposite of that (but we still bitch). Scioscia held players on a tight leash, but Maddon pushes players to the limits (like with how much playing time he had given Ohtani, or bringing Rodriguez out for the seventh inning a few days ago). But we still bitch. And Maddon maximizes the playing time for youngsters, while also putting pressure on vets to perform, to adapt, or to get out (Pujols). And we still bitch.
Maddon is a very good manager. He's terrific at putting his players in position to succeed. Dude started shifting against opposing hitters on a consistent basis when he was managing the Rays and a large part of why the Rays pitchers were successful was because of that. Managers across MLB started doing what he did, so he (Maddon) did changed the game with the shift. And he's not afraid of putting his sluggers in the leadoff to rejuvenate themselves. He did that with Rizzo when he managed the Cubs and Rizzo started swinging the bat well again. Did the same thing with Upton when he was put in the leadoff spot, Upton swung a hot bat. I think Maddon's going to put Upton back at leadoff pretty soon if he can't find it at the plate within a week or so.

Imagine telling people that Adell would have a better slash line than Trout by August 4th of the 2021 regular season. Their heads would explode.
-
There seems to be not much 2021 posts on this thread. I think Trout is having a tough season at the plate. Looks like he finally might have lost his greatness as a player.
-
Heaney had a 4.05 FIP before tonight's game. It's going to be inflated a lot with those four bombs he allowed. Giving up home runs really kills your FIP.

He was rarely that bad with us.
Four home runs, and almost a 5th but it was caught at the wall.
It's still a shock to me that he wasn't worse than he was with the Angels. The guy doesn't even have good stuff. His "stuff" would scream out, "6.00 ERA!"
-
If Trout was a Yankee in 2021 and had that slump that he had before landing on the IL, would Yankee fans have the guts to boo Trout? I mean, booing Trout would be like booing God. Speaking of boos, Heaney is heating it from the Yankee fans. Well-deserved.

That's our Andrew!
Make that four home runs, so four earned runs in his first start as a Yankee. #FUNNY

They're a very good team. They don't have a superstar on their roster like they once did with Reggie, McGwire, or Giambi. But they have a bunch of good players on both sides of the ball. Their starting rotation is pretty good, they have a terrific defense, an they have a very good bullpen.
-
It's a miracle that the Yankees actually wanted Heaney. He'll be remembered as a big underachiever who was hurt a lot, which is the how things go with the Angels.
-
Maddon has done a good job this season managing the team. Only issue is his bullpen management but there's no relievers right now on the team who has pitched a lot of innings and has a good ERA of under 3.00. I can't blame him for having a bad bullpen.

Trout has hit only eight home runs during the 2021 regular season. And we're now in late July, July 26 to be exact. Not just that but he has the same amount of home runs this regular season as Taylor Ward. The world is going to end soon with a six mile wide asteroid driving humans to extinction.
Ohtani will not pitch tomorrow, will only hit until wrist soreness goes away

Now Judge will not be a little chicken and will be in the lineup tomorrow night. Scared of Ohtani.
