I like that you mention Simmons, he seemed to have the best situational awareness that I have seen. It looks like Neto has the same thing, always around the ball. I think he is , and I hate to use this term a "Natural".

    I'm really liking this guy.
Disarcina was my SS as a kid. Eckstein and Aybar were good, probably better than Disar,  but for some reason I still viewed Disar as MY SS. Cabrera was very good but had a shorter tenure. Simmons was extremely underrated. We definitely landed him on the 2nd half of his career, but he was unbelievable.
I think Neto might become my favorite Angel SS going forward.

Ohtani isn't going to be traded. Not unless Trout and Rendon collide in a base-running accident and are both out for the year.
Oh wait, this is the Angels and that could happen.

I don’t know how much truth there is to the report, but it is interesting that since the game on 4/24 where Estévez wasn’t used:
    - Moore was then used in 3 out of 4 days, marking the second time it occurred for an Angels reliever all season.
    - Estévez recorded his first appearance of more than 1 IP this season.
    - The Angels SB attempts per game went up from 0.43 to 1.67
There are changes that have been made in the way they’ve operated since Arte reportedly told Perry to leave Nevin alone on managerial decisions. Seems like too big of a coincidence, but I guess we’ll see in the coming days/weeks. If relievers are used more frequently and they continue to run more, maybe the report is true.

Jesus Christ.   You don't even have to LIKE Minasian to see how completely fucking self absorbed Maddon is.  Any talk about "worship" needs to start with the Maddon cult that made him out to be something he wasn't.  The dude wore out his welcome in Chicago, then did the same in Anaheim in damn near record time despite having an owner that absolutely loved the guy.  I bet if you polled the guys that played under both him and Ausmus they likely tell you they preferred Ausmus.
Maddon's genius was built upon having worked under the two best GMs in MLB history since Branch Rickey. Everyone saw how he almost blew a WS and then painfully wasted an absolutely loaded Cubs roster.

Well I don’t demonize Maddon nor do I worship Minasian.  I was merely saying basing an opinion on content from a book written by a fired guy about issues with the guy that fired him is, at best, one side of a story, and at worst could be total nonsense.

I give props to Trout for saying after last night's game that he's beginning to feel like himself again, then proceeding to go 0-4 with 3 Ks.

Start shopping Ohtani.  No bullpen, Trout is old, and too many Rengifos on the team.

I turned on the game last night in the sixth inning when the Angels came from behind to tie the score, , after coming back from a 7-2 deficit. Then I turned it off, then turned it on again in the top of the 9th when the Angels were winning 8-7 and trying to close it out. They brought Wantz in to attempt to close the game. Wantz had never closed a game before. He walked the first two batters. Then they yanked Wantz and brough in Barria, who had never closed a game before. Sensing a pattern? Then Barria walked in the tying run and eventually got out of the inning after Ward made the spectacular game-saving catch to save his hide. Then I turned it off and went to sleep. (I live on the East Coast)
I noticed that the starting pitcher Suarez also got shelled.
    Against the 4-18 Oakland A's.
Now they're talking about moving Suarez to the bullpen, like what they do when they shuffle perverted priests to a different parrish or corrupt government officials to the media. It's the same damn problem just put it somewhere else .
I want someone to take the fall for this game.  I'm sick of shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic with the pitching staff. Thinking about Suarez, Wantz and Barria, all three of them wouldn't be major losses. Neither would "Interim" pitching coach Matt Wise. The team has been poorly managed for years and the pitching has been the worst part of the team, so much so that they drafted twenty pitchers in a recent draft. My choice would be to fire Wise with Suarez, Wantz and Barria close behind.
I wish the Angels would pick up a world-class pitching coach. It seems like such a clear idea. But they keep getting these non-entities and mediocrities coaching. Nevin is also a mediocrity. And don't get me started on Moreno, who's the Captain Queeg of this ship.

Shaping up that Moore, Quijada, and Estevez needs to be the 7-8-9 bridge right now until we can find someone else to throw some reliable innings. Maybe Wantz, and Herget can settle in and be decent, I just don’t see Tepera and Loup turning into reliable relievers.

This would be a fair response if the Angels had guys with good stuff. They don't. All pitchers are going to make mistakes. Mistakes at 98 are much more difficult to take advantage of than mistakes at 92 (tepera) or 80 (loup and herget)
