  1. After all the recent interviews, I DEFENITELY think that the Angels are going to make a hot, steamy BM that will smother the MLB this year.
  2. I see what you are saying, but honestly the #1 thing I wanted was bullpen upgrades. Sure, I expected at LEAST one semi-competent starter and a more significant bat than "the corpse of Aaron Hicks," but I genuinely think the bullpen and health have been the primary reasons for our recent suckitude. If we go into the season with 2.5 dependable starters and "LOL" still listed as the backup in OF/DH then yeah, I'll be pissed, but so far I'm perfectly OK with the offseason.
  3. Bottom line -- I'm hopeful that we AT LEAST have risen to the level of having merely a "bad" bullpen instead of catastrophic. I even have some hope of getting to below average. Honestly, after the past few years, I'd almost rather go 50-112 with no hope and no goals then go 75-87 with 20 logic-defying bullpen collapses. I'd rather be bad throughout the roster then have one more f'n year of having an otherwise decent club that is sunk time and time again by terrible bullpen play. I swear -- every year we go into June thinking "Man, all we really need is a top-end starter, one starting-caliber infielder, a little health luck.... and, oh yeah, we need to burn down and replace the entire bullpen except the one competent guy that we really should probably trade because there's no fucking way we get the four or five competent relievers we need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot."
  4. Once this information was "leaked", my assumption is that the sale of the team would happen after the season -- maybe late summer if someone makes a strong bid. I figure a couple months to sort through bids and another month or two for the TV contract situation to clear up. That puts us at July at the earliest. Add in some time for waffling, negotiating, and what other nonsense, and September seems like a reasonable timeline.
  5. Typical doomcuck response. We had and have a top-26 bullpen in the majors.
  6. I assumed he'd pick it up from Plesac himself when he's DFA'd in June.
  7. I don't care about going into a rebuild -- it seems like as good an idea as anything else. For the love of God, though -- ADDRESS THE BULLPEN. Another season of watching the bullpen fail over and over might make me lose my mind. If it were me and my Billions to spend, I'd add Hader, Stephenson, Hicks, AND Neris. ANYTHING but be forced to white-knuckle any lead after the fifth inning.
  8. If nothing else, you hope for a couple of months where he's "On" because if he is, he's dominant.
  9. 1. Trade Jo Adell for Javier Baez 2. Trade Patrick Sandoval for Robbie Ray 3. Trade Carlos Estevez for Phil Bickford 4. Sign Austin Meadows to a five-year deal. 5. Sign Heath Hembree to a three-year deal. 6. Sign Trevor Bauer as a Closer. 7. Move Mike Trout to Third Base and Carlos Rendon to Left Field.
  10. Pretty sure Walsh will be DFA'd this offseason. How else is he supposed to hit 32 homers and get an all-star appearance for some random NL team next season?
  11. Lipscomb alum here. I'm surprised anyone here has even heard of Lipscomb.
  12. To be fair, O'Hoppe has been stuck hitting .000 for over a month.
  13. You'd think Roy Hobbs would be more comfortable with that phrase....
  14. This was what I was thinking too, weirdly enough. Jeter's career slash line (.310/.374/.440) looks pretty close to what I think he can become; let's hope he also has Jeter's peak.
  15. I would trade WAY more than makes rational sense to get Scott Barlow (yes, even though the start of this year has been rough for him), then trade for another solid-average guy. I would then give Loup/Tepera a firm handshake and fill in the gaps from our farm system. I think Barlow-Estevez-Moore-Quijada-Average Guy-Herget would round into a nice bullpen.
  16. I'd love to hear how the Angels put it. It's bad it they are doing it because he was critical of the team., but if they do it because he sucks the energy off the radio program. then it makes sense. I could probably listen to the show and figure it out, but I have LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE to do, so the mystery will remain unsolved.
  17. This board has become an all-Arte waste land in your absence. It is believed that soon after you left, a type of pro-Arte mania has spread and is only getting worse. Factions have begun to splinter the movement, however. Stradling is crowdfunding a golden Arte statue in Long Beach in an effort to get him to move the team, while inside Pitch moved to Los Vegas, gambling away his fortune in an ill-fated attempt to win enough money to build a stadium there. TDawg and Lou have begun working their way up the corporate ladder at Del Taco, only sending the occasional cryptic text to provide updates. However, they are both have to take so many opiates to deal with the pain of working in Del Taco's cooperate offices that their messages are gibberish and no one knows what their goals or methods are. Meanwhile, It was revealed in a court filing by the ATF that Chuck moved only to open his new compound -- called "Heavens Home Plate Gate "-- and has appointed Second Base and Blarg as his priests. They further allege that Rodondo is going to be sacrificed at the opening of the compound, though Chuck -- sorry, HIGH PRIEST AND KEEPER OF THE RELICS Chuck -- has denied these rumors, insisting that he would never sacrifice a human, would only offer a racoon or turtle or, at worst, Taylor as his offering. Thank God you have come back to restore order.
  18. He literally might just be the MLB version of a "Camp Arm" -- someone who can play shortstop competently enough that the starters benefit, but will get sent down once the rubber meets the road so to speak.
