Sooner or later there will be a tidal wave of voices that come after the sleazeball Jeter for his womanizing ways and “generosity” (gift baskets).

I am not saying the Angels are in great shape.
But you do have to remember this ranking is about the farm system overall (not the majors) and it openly says it emphasizes the advanced players closest to the majors.
So you have to consider that the Angels now have quite a few recently graduated players from the minors.
If you believe the purpose of the ranking is to get a glimpse of how optimistic you should be about talent in the majors in the next couple of years, it is a fair consideration that a team that has recently graduated a good number of potentially high impact players to the majors is actually CLOSER to better days ahead than a team that has not graduated a good crop and is still waiting for them to be ready.
In no way am I saying the Angels should not be deeply committed to improving their organizational talent, but that should be true every day of the week forever.
The Angels, with where they are right now in their path to better days, are not going to score well in a system that doesn’t consider recently graduated players and underemphasizes players deeper in the minors. . . Where the Angels have definitely improved.
Bottom line is the Angels are better off today than most times recently and yet they “dropped” in this ranking.

Negotiating

The word “greed” in these kinds of situations is almost always unproductive and distracting.
Everyone wants to end up with as much compensation as they can.
In this CBA negotiation, I would say either everyone is greedy or nobody is greedy.

I fully agree that fans don’t need any of this and they do need an escape.  I guess I am just in the camp that thinks the complications in these talks (maybe even resulting in some lost games) is necessary in the real world to get through this as fast as possible to get back to normal where fans can “escape” into their hobby outside of their normal life.

Yes other than waiting to see a certain prospect get an at bat or something like that.
Some of the joy of Spring Training games is just missing the real games Nov-Feb.
Then after four innings you realize you are not really getting that real game experience.

I would be happy if they cut the regular season down to 150 and the Angels made the playoffs by 3 games.

Honestly I can’t see there being a huge reduction in games played.  Maybe I am wrong.  No way to know until it happens.
I guess I am asking if there are any fans that actually feel like it is some kind of disaster if some games don’t happen.
You asked are we talking 10 or 50?  Great question.
To me, losing 10 games in a process to resolve this is nothing.  Don’t care.  A 150 game season is functionally a legit “full” season in my book.
Losing 50 games would suck.  But if that’s what it takes to resolve it then so be it.
This is between the owners and the players.  Let them do what they gotta do.
